Clemson's Success & Butch Jones

Who's gonna pay for it though? The Mexicans are already tapped to pay for the wall on the southern border. It would be cheaper to dig a pit and line the bottom with sharpened punji sticks made from old toothbrushes.

Need Mexicans to dig the pit. Nobody else does shovel work in the country anymore. Chicken/egg.

And Dooley beat him head to head. So there's that.

He beat him when he was at Cincinnati. Cincinnati will never have the caliber of players that even lower-tier SEC schools have. It was also in Neyland. That is about the most stupid comparison one could make regarding head to head competition.

yes.........despite popular belief, I think he does as good as anyone in the development of players, but now these recruits are going to other schools.......I lay a lot of the negativity on many posters on Volnation......they have given Tennessee the worst reputation in the country..........why would 5* and 4* players come to a toxic environment like UT? until many of you grow up........expect 2 year development time of 3* players.

I don't see anything wrong with the Offensive or Defensive play calling, but you can't put 274lb DL against 300lb+ OL.......injuries killed Team 120.......but I am proud of what they did against Nebraska.

Tennessee isn't losing recruits because of fan message board. You can't possibly believe that. And if the environment is "toxic" at UT it has absolutely nothing to do with a internet fan site that has 3,000-4,000 anonymous fans on it per day.

You really think a player goes and visits the campus, visits with the coaches and players, attends a game or 2 in Neyland, sees our great campus and incredible state of the art facilities and academic support center......and says "nope, none of this matters, there's a fan website that questioned Coach Jones and said Bob Shoop did a poor job, so I'm dropping Tennessee from my list". Come on man.

And as far as player development, Coach Doug Mathews brought this up, again, this morning as a concern for this staff.

Yes. The one that won the east while we finished up tied with KY 2 games back.

Fair enough, but stating FSU curbstomped the same team the Vols curbstomped was the wrong way to state your case. And technically UT didn't tie UK in the east considering UT also curbstomped the cats. I also don't think UF would have survived some of those close scares with teams like Vandy and UK if they had sustained their injuries as esrly in the season as UT did.

Why do people continue to bring up Dooley with Butch Jones? The man may have some faults, but there is not one ounce of him that relates to Dooley. Bowl game wins, beating UF and UGA, never giving up, winning 9 games, and recruiting at a high level (even this year Butch has committed more dynamic players than Dooley) are all things Dooley never did. Just quit it. It's ridiculous.

2-2 vs Vandy is a very Dooley-esque stat

The rise of Clemson spells out the end of Butch Jones at Tennessee. Butch made his living the past 4 years on strong recruiting but we saw this year that Clemson went into Temnessee's backyard and took what they wanted.

Tee Higgins, Hunter Johnson and Trevor Lawerence might only be the start of the damage Clemson can do to Tennessee's recruiting.

Recruting is one of the only thing Butch has going for him. Without top 10 classes he doesn't bring much to the table and won't last much longer.

If Clemson beats Bama...

Ironic how you're praising the accession of a Clemson program that was just 29-19 after four years under its current head coach. Butch Jones is 30-21 after four years, after inheriting a much worse roster and playing a much tougher schedule.

In those first four years, Clemson fans weren't constantly throwing their coaches under the bus for failing to meet irrational expectations. If Clemson had pulled the plug on Dabo Swinney after four years, it would've missed out on the 59-9 run they've been on for the past five years. Clemson fans have been rewarded with success commensurate to their loyalty. PATIENCE, POSITIVITY, AND STABILITY have been the key to their success, on and off the field.

:lolabove:Here we go again; yet another negavol fishing for likes from fellow demitrolls. Your vivid imaginations aren't only woefully lacking in diversity, but they're also woefully lacking in viable content. "Huh?" you say. I've read some clear-headed rebuttals to your (and many others') veiled attempts at trolling CBJ, et al, but they're all still receiving the highest praise solely from your fellow demitrolls and UT's legitimate foes, and apparently none from actual UT fans who're knowledgeable as to the ins-and-outs of college football. OP. It appears doubtful that you're doing nothing more than scrolling through past negavol drivel and repeating portions of their shallow rants. Can't any of you at least be creative? AMIRIGHT?

Did you read the post I quoted with that statement?

UF wasn't very good they also got hammered by a non contending Arkansas team. The East sucked, and we finished 4-4 in the conference. It is what it is.

Was this thread needed? Couldn't the Butch bashing have been accomplished in one of the other 50 threads that it is occurring in? If not, please continue because I will have ignored this angry hate fest. Yall should just enjoy the bowl win and relax for a few months. Let the recruiting cycle play out and see what coaching changes happen before we declare UT Football kaput.

Be careful, glich. If you have a differing opinion, you might be thinking like a Millenial.

So Jones inherited a dumpster fire of a roster, which was good enough to beat a 10-3 team that he coached?

Do you really believe what you post are "facts"? Butch is not a lame duck coach.
You are either a troll or incredibly ________

Well, picked to win the east two years in a row, and failed miserably. What do you call that?

Actually, winning their division for the first time ever in Dabo's first full season created some goodwill and equity. The fact that he brought them their first conference championship in almost 20 years in his third full season also didn't hurt.

If you want a meaningful stat, take a look at Tommy Bowden's record over his last four full seasons at Clemson. It was 31-18, slightly better than Jones' record here. Do you think Clemson fans regret parting ways with Bowden after his 3-3 start in 2008?

So, now we know you are just trolling because you aren't this dumb. Bray, Rogers, Rodgers, Hunter, Rivera, and Malik Jackson all played in 2011 and Jones did not inherit any of them. 5 were highly rated as prospects, and 4 have or are playing in the NFL. If Jones had inherited that talent in year one, he most likely would have been better than 5-7.

But that's ok. Like I said, you have your mind made up and creating the means to get there.
