Climate Change Report

We are in the top 5 of carbon emissions. China is awful, yes. But why would we base a decision off of whether or not other countries are doing it? That’s just a defeatist attitude. Why not aim to be the world leader on this? The upfront costs are hard to swallow but It’s far cheaper than the costs in the long run.
The US met Kyoto requirements without ever having ratified the treaty.

We don’t need treaties. We don’t need to subject our economy to the whims of banana republics and closed societies.

I don’t care about the treaties. I want us to go at it alone if that’s what it takes. But something must be done. Are we going to solve the issue? Nope. We are all going to die in a blaze of glory no matter what we do. Can we slow it down and prolong our existence and make it somewhat bearable? I believe we can.

Uh, it's the same super computer. They were making early claims that this super computer could come up with a compound that would be a therapeutic for Covid. It was on national news. The story has since fallen by the way side.

It isn't a PC; I assume multiple groups can use it simultaneously (or take turns using it?). There are pictures of the thing on the internet. It's huge and generates enough heat that it has a dedicated cooling tower.

The fact that they've not reported more about the covid research isn't indicative of the research being a failure or that they haven't provided useful data. Why is it that you're so quick to try to point out perceived problems with someone else's arguments ("Nice false dichotomy! [sic]") but you don't recognize the flaws in your own arguments?

Or we aren’t going to die at all because of “climate change”

No more than your appeal to super computer authority.

Oh we most certainly will die of climate change at some point. That’s not even debatable.
Lmao keep believing that. I’ll never forget my high school ecology teacher in tears because scientists said the ozone wouldn’t exist by 2000 and that acid rain would destroy the crops and people would starve to death. And oh yeah the glaciers would definitely be melted by 2000 as well and all coastal cities would be underwater.

I knew then that this cult of ignorance was made up by typical liberals. Seeing “problems” as life and death for emotional reasons and making nonsensical plans that require a lot of money and a change in lifestyles to their opinions but with little impact or reason

What do you think will happen when the sun slowly expands and eventually reaches the orbit of Mars? You don’t think the climate will be a wee bit different?
That’s not “climate change”. Millions of years the sun will explode too. And I’m not worried or care about that either because there is nothing we can do about it and have no effect on it

The issue is how politicized the left has made the issue.

You went straight to your play book of brow beating the right on your high and mighty horse. You never engaged in an actual conversation, which on the subject of green tech I can tell you works. And it takes more than talking at someone one time for it to be an actual conversation. Instead you just said "line up you slobs and do exactly what I tell you uneducated swine. I know better than you, i know how you should live your life. And you must fit neatly into this box I want you to pay for or else you hate the world. Those are the only two options do exactly what I say, how I say it, and when I say, and say thank you. Or you hate the world."

Just read your post, or just about any of the posts in here from the left. They drip with derision and superiority. There is no better way to get Americans not to do something than to tell them they HAVE to do something.

You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you cant sell them to people, your ideas are crap. And you dont even bother trying to sell them.

I deal with it all the time. I love green tech in buildings, to me it's some of the coolest stuff you can have. Plus it helps me not be dependent on the grid. But I know that because I deal with it first hand. To most people they dont have that level of understanding, or experience, and being so dang top down about the whole matter is the worst way the left could go about the matter.

You need fewer white lab coats and politicians pushing this stuff, and more of the base workers. The people who actually live this stuff, who actually work with people. They are the ones who can sell this as the future. Instead you line up every overbearing stuffed shirt you can and look down your noses while making edicts.

The best part is, imo, that all you arseholes, on here or out there pushing the BS. Have no working knowledge of this stuff. Oh this paper says this, or this study says this. Mother truckers I dont give one good damn what your papers say, i care about what the applicable real world side of it is. I cant tell you the number of times i have read the specs and studies on this stuff and laughed at it, because it doesnt match reality. It's a far cry from some study to actually installing, and running, this equipment. You have to match needs and real life situations. And you ivory tower jackanapes just think you can wave your magic wands and everything works as perfectly as your papers say.
Standing ovation

The climate changing on earth isn’t climate change?

Let’s take it earlier than that. What will happen when the global temperature climbs 5 degrees ? First, the ice caps melt. This adds 99% of the earths freshwater into an ocean filled with saltwater. Now I’m no expert, but I’d say it would have two major impacts. 1) sea levels will rise by 20 feet. This will immediately flood every major city along the coast. 2) the freshwater will interrupt the Atlantic current, essentially shutting it down. This will have a wild impact on the climate. Just ask Europe. For their latitude, they should be in perpetual winter 9 months of the year. Due to the Atlantic current bringing warm water north, it moderates their climate. Take that away, and Europe freezes to death.

No more than your appeal to super computer authority.

You mean my appeal to the people using it who actually are experts? Why is that a problem? If I was sick and referenced my doctor's diagnosis to you would you call that a logical fallacy? I noticed you didn't call out norrislakevol for referencing one of his acquaintances who works in the field. Why the double standard?

Like it has in the past.

Notice my earlier post about not stopping it. There is no stopping it. We can do enough to slow it down and prolong our existence on this planet. The logical fallacy of “well it’s happened before and it’s gonna happen again anyway regardless so **** it” is stupid.

And this is why the "climate change" or "global warming" alarmists are not worth listening to.

The earth has warmed and cooled several times throughout millennia and there is not a damn thing we can do to stop it and spending money trying to is a waste. If these people were wanting to spend money on figuring out how we are going to live and thrive with a warming climate, ok I'm interested. But that isn't their focus, their focus is on control.

How would we know it’s a waste? It hasn’t happened in human lifetime.

If my doctor said “you may get cancer in 40 years and are going to die a slow painful death if it happens” I wouldn’t worry and lose sleep because literally dozens of things can cause cancer.

Now if the doctor said you have a high chance at getting a particular cancer because of a specific thing you are doing and here’s how to reduce that chance that is a different story.

But you can’t take “experts” seriously when they have no real specificity of what we are doing, what can be done, and etc. just “stop eating meat and driving cars and give government money”.

There is not a damn thing we humans can do to stop our climate from changing.

You seem hung up on the word stop. I’ve already addressed this. Slowing down is the key. And we can do that. It’s going to happen regardless, but human impact is accelerating it.

Oh we most certainly will die from climate change at some point. That’s not even debatable.

Life is brutal. We wouldn't be here without the 5 prior mass extinction events in Earth's history. So live by the climate gun, die by the climate gun?

1) End Ordovician 444 million years ago: the first was caused by the Appalachians forming, which removed CO2 from the atmosphere and caused an ice age. 86% extinction.

2) Late Devonian 375 million years ago: land plants appear, gradually releasing nutrients into the ocean which is eventually overwhelmed by algal blooms and starved of oxygen. 75% extinction.

3) The worst was the Permian extinction 251 million years ago which started with a Siberian eruption which ended up activating methane-producing bacteria and turning the planet into an oven. 96% of life gone.

4) End Triassic 2000 million years ago: some debate here, but all evidence is climate change, it is most likely that rising CO2 from volcanic activity due to the super continent Pangea's split led to the release of methane trapped in permafrost and undersea ice. 80% extinction.

5) End Cretaceous 66 million years ago: the case of Asteroid v. Tyrannosaurus , this one everyone knows, 76%

6) Impending. Methane and carbon release from the melting of Earth's coldest regions makes life unstainable for the dominant species, who spent their last days arguing on the internet about not just why, but whether, it was truly happening.
