a portion of ABC’s trailer for the show, which broadcast the alleged imminent dangers of so-called global warming or climate change — which is now often called “extreme weather” or “severe weather” — and its purportedly catastrophic impact on the United States by 2015.

The promo opened with the on-screen statement: “Rome fell. Maya civilization disappeared. Easter Island collapsed. Are we next?”

Some of the comments from apparently frightened or concerned people featured in ABC’s promo include:
PETER GLEICK: (dramatic music) In 2015, we’ve still failed to address the climate problem!

JOHN HOLDREN: We’re going to see more floods, more droughts, more (fire noise) wildfires!
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: (channel change sound effect) Flames cover hundreds of square miles.

Solar-Panel Waste: Environmental Threat from Clean Energy | National Review

A new study by Environmental Progress (EP) warns that toxic waste from used solar panels now poses a global environmental threat. The Berkeley-based group found that solar panels create 300 times more toxic waste per unit of energy than nuclear power plants. Discarded solar panels, which contain dangerous elements such as lead, chromium, and cadmium, are piling up around the world, and there’s been little done to mitigate their potential danger to the environment.

How do we combat that.
The situation seems almost hopeless
If our leadership really cared they would begin by placing trade sanctions. I know enough to know that China doesn’t follow environmental regulation. Any stats you get from China are flat out lies.

It is also why China is taking over. No votes. Decide it and do it, and they don’t give two *****. Yet, we keep buying their ****. There is enough cheap labor in South America to produce affordable goods that we should never have to by anything back east.

It is hopeless. We are a huge part of the problem, but consider the rest of the world. It is the +2 billion people in China and India approaching the same standard of living as us that will dramatically alter everything. Without a concerted effort of renewable power, electric vehicles, advanced AI, and conservation/recycling, we are toast sooner rather than later. Throw climate change in the mix and we may very well be at the apex of civilization. Hopefully Elon can get Starship going quickly so we have a fall back when **** hits the fan on Earth. As much as technology can help us, I don't think it will save us. It is too late. We Millennials get to watch the world burn. The liberal-republic culture is already breaking down, we are hurtling toward oligarchic autocracy as can be seen with the rise of Trump and his type around the world. I used to be hopeful.

Bolded started way before Trump was even in politics. The rest I agree with.
