Close one Saturday?

Kentucky's defense is too damn slow to stop or even to slow down the Tennessee offense.

Which, like I said, is why you would play guys deep to prevent the big play.

It will invite a heavy dose of the run game. But that is the only choice they have to stay in the game. Anyone trying to beat UT should have as a goal for the game to limit possessions. You want UT at 8 or less possessions. At that point you likely still give up 40 points.

While in theory I agree there would still be a path with a loss to UK, I think that part of “controlling your own destiny” would be beating a team you have an 83% chance of beating at home rather than a 22% chance against a more formidable opponent on the road.
If we are a 1 loss SEC Champ we are going-no question.

I think Tennessee will score 63 on Kentucky and will give up a couple of garbage time touchdowns to Kentucky when they're probably playing backups.

There are alot of red flags for this game.
1. Big game the following week for us.
2. Suspect secondary against a really good passing game from KY.
3. KY coming off bye week
4. Chance of rain Sat. (I know, it's wet on their side of the field also)
5. KY vs Tennessee is always a hard fought game
I think turnovers will be big in determining who wins this game. GBO

It is? That's somewhat true in Lexington, but here are the scores of the 15 matchups in Knoxville prior to the awful COVID 2020 season (all wins). I count 2 close games, the closest being a 5 point win.

24-7
49-36
50-16
37-17

We won by 3 last year at their place. We’re a little better this year and they might be a little weaker but I’ll predict it will be a close game again. I say we beat they by a TD.

My god, what a horrible take.

Rivalry game and likely still some bama hangover so I think it will be a nail biter.

It took a pandemic for Kentucky to get the dub in Neyland. It won't happen again. Kentucky is overrated this year and Tennessee will expose them.

Idk about close but I expect UK to play their safeties deep and refuse to give up the big play. Make UT dink and dunk and go on 10 play drives instead of 3 play drives. More opportunities to create fumbles or interceptions.

Reduce the number of possessions by UT and keep the score below 40.

I agree, if I was Ky then I would do the same thing.

However, it will also limit Ky's possessions and if Ky can't keep up then we score 35 and they score 7.. still lose.

Where is the chance of rain coming from? Weather channel says 70 with a 2% chance of rain.

The team didn't look ahead to Pitt against ball state.

The team didn't look ahead to Florida against Akron.

The team didn't look ahead to ALABAMA when playing LSU

What makes anyone think the team will look ahead of Kentucky to Georgia? It's unfounded BVS nonsense.

I don't think they will look ahead but I don't really have any evidence that they haven't looked ahead in the past. They haven't been ranked this with a big win over bama. We haven't been in this situation before with CJH.

I don't think, and sure as hell hope we are not looking ahead but Ky can beat us if we do not give full effort.

Goodness is it Sat, yet?

I thinks it starts out close, but we pull away fairly fast. Side note: Being on Twitter, I see KY fanbase. I don't want to paint them all with the same brush...but I thought AL fans were a$$'s...not sure AL has anything on them. When did they get so hostile?

They have little man syndrome. It’s hilarious.

They are all bark and no bite. They’ll be talking about basketball season on Sunday.

I don’t think the whole “looking ahead” thing really applies to this situation. That’s for dangerous .500 or worse teams when a huge game is on the line the following week.

The battle for the East isn’t here yet. We have a Top 25 team standing in our way to even get there. No one will underestimate them.

You are absolutely correct. The Vols will be prepared for the game that is happening this Saturday. They are not preparing for or looking ahead to Georgia in any way. That is for fans and analysts and prognosticators. This team is laser focused on beating Kentucky. Erik Ainge talks about this regularly. There is no looking ahead.

I’m not sure our D holds anyone to 7, but I agree overall.

I truly expect UGA to employ this next week. They saw Bama get torched. If you’re trying to beat us, have to make us work for points. Not give up 3 play TD drives.

I think Tennessee will get another last minute win over Georgia by a touchdown or a field goal. I could see something like 45-42

Cool! We'll just run it down their throat until they bring their safeties up. Then we'll throw it over their head and score lots of points. Rinse, repeat.
