CNN Poll: Big Gains For Obama In Battlegrounds

we agree, but we're electing a guy running on an ultraliberal platform as a knee jerk reaction to a bad R admin. Obama's platform would have him run out of Washington in a more typical election. In fact, without the recent economic crisis, I'm not he sure could have won.

I'd like to think I'm dead wrong, but we're not electing Obama for who he is and experience. We're electing an unqualified ultraliberal because of who he isn't.

I agree.

I have felt that this election has been Obama's to loose for a while now. Dems always win on the economy no matter how hard the GOP uses the Socialism scare tactic.

Bush won in 04 because National Security was the hot topic. Obama will win this time because the economy is the hot topic.

What did Reagan win on, twice? Followed by GHB, who lost by raising taxes.

How many people do you know that have actually been polled?

I know many Democrats. All of them that I talk to, and I mean ALL, are voting against Obama.

A couple of examples. My sister in law is a lifelong Democrat. She is voting against him. A co-worker made this statement, "I've never voted Republican in my life. This will be the first time." My best friend has never voted in his life. I have hammered on him for thirty years to register and vote. He has registered for the sole purpose of voting against Obama.

You "Lil' Hussein lovers have a huge surprise coming in November.

The rout is on alright.

That is just the opposite of where I work. If my office is any indication, of the 5 people that I work directly with, all 5 are voting for Obama. I don't know how many are registered republicans, but at least one that I know of is voting for Obama.

Your friend has no common sense.

gloating because our situation in America is dire enough to elect the most unqualified and most liberal candidate of our lifetimes just doesn't make sense to me.

You want to claim some sort of objective high ground, but shout hooray regularly about a guy with no credentials whatsoever. All the while reminding that the opposing VP candidate is unqualified. Equally baffling.

You're joking, right? Of course it is only your opinion he has no credentials. As a matter of FACT, graduating magna from Harvard Law and being editor of Harvard Law Review are fairly significant credentials in themselves. You don't like him, fine, it is your right as an American. Sometimes I think you confuse your opinion as fact.

BPV, Palin simply doesn't have the intelligence nor does she have a clear understanding of our most important issues. She has become the biggest joke of all time in presidential elections. I actually feel sorry for her. She is so out of her element she has become pathetic.

That is not even remotely close to bearing any truth whatsoever.

You are too blinded by anger......

I have no anger. I hate no one

Look, I am not completely sold on Obama, but I do think he will affect more positive change for this country than McCain. I have always liked McCain, up until the last month or so. He has strayed away from his character with his personal attacks on Obama. The disdain he showed last week at the debate was pitiful. He never even looked at Obama. It looks as though it is painful for him when he shakes Obama's hand. Like he is above Obama.

I am not looking for a war hero to be my president. Heck, my father was a war hero, but he wouldn't have made a good president.

Either are pieces of trash, we haven't seen this amount of trash since Truman and Dewey.

As for Palin......... there have been plenty worse, including the two I mentioned above.

Don't lecture about opinions and facts and then start the next sentence with . . .

You think she does have the intelligence?

I wouldn't go so far as to call her the biggest joke of all time, but I would call her a farce. There are plenty of other former mayors and govenors that are better versed on the current issues and with higher intelligence that would have been a better choice. Plain and simple, she was basically chosen because she is an evangelical and pro-life, with some local government experience sprinkled on top. She is everything McCain is not, and he needed the base to win this election. Out of anybody he could have chosen there is noway you can argue she is the best qualified, unless you consider being a woman a qualification for VP. He needed Bush in drag, and that is exactly what he did.

Right, so why does any of this surprise you?

Honestly I have no clue how smart she is. All we've basically heard is her playing defense against some gotcha questions and a couple of canned interviews and stump speeches. I don't think anybody can really make much of an evaluation of her until tonight.

I think that polls are pretty much meaningless in this election. I've got a funny feeling that however much McCain stumbles through the current crisis, when people step into the booth, the old shoe effect will kick in. People don't go for the unknown quantity in times of instability, even if the status quo is what got you where you are. On the other hand, that is the number one reason why I feel like his pick of Palin is a liability, not an asset.

This is what I don't get. Obama and his campaign have made numerous personal attacks on McCain but somehow that doesn't seem to be a disqualifier for him.

Neither guy is living up to the tone they said they would bring to the election. For some reason, this only disqualifies McCain - I just don't get it.

Because when McCain goes negative it's because he's got temper issues and is a crotchety old geezer. When Obama goes negative it's because he's passionate about change and giving people hope.

I am sure your sample size of what, twenty or so democrats is not very representative of country, or more specifically the battleground states. I think I will trust respected pollsters over you. Care to take a shot at your margin of error?
