I'm not disagreeing he wasn't first option. I'm not saying Hart didn't seem to foul things up. I'm saying Butch is our coach and as a coach, he is light years ahead of who we have had recently on Rocky Top. People can critique his recruiting but I look at it as what you do with the talent you have. 4 titles in 6 years is good for me. Guys seem to become better recruiters when they have a better destination to recruit to. I'm backing Butch for now. What other options do I have that will be more enjoyable?

Who cares where he came from or who we won him from if we got the right man for the job.....This elitist attitude kills me.....all great coaches have a start at a lower level job.

I know recruiting sites miss on recruits. I know coaches miss on recruits. But there is no better correlation to recruiting success than recruiting rankings, and that means your opinion and my opinion on his ability to recruit as well.

Like I said, I'm late to the conversation. I thought the discussion was that he didn't recruit as well as his predecessor. That should be pretty easy to evaluate.

the only real possibilities were strong,jones and fedora.

gruden was never coming here and gundy was using us to get another raise.

butch Davis? His best record was 8-5 after four seasons in the ACC.....not to mention NCAA troubles following from every program he has been at.....

Petrino is a really good coach but a poor recruiter and has left everyo team he has been at in shambles when he leaves.

is the argument recruiting or development? Recruiting, there isn't an argument. Development, maybe an argument. I wouldn't expect his teams and coaching to be as developed as Brian Kelly. Who would.

Petrino doesn't deserve to clean the toilets at Neyland Stadium. The only time I want to see him their is when the Vols are whopping his a** next year.

Teamdeke- that's fine. I'm with you. You asked for coaches that would've been better or had us a little more excited. I love Tennessee and I want them to be great again. I'm not sold on butch. I doubt anyone truly is. Anyone who is sold, just believes so much in Tennessee, that it will rise from the ashes no matter what. Honestly, it's not butch. It's the university. It's hart. It's cheek. They screwed it all up and they are to blame. Not butch, but it's just so hard to get behind a guy that was our 5th choice.
