2. Brian Kelly, Notre Dame, 91,042 + 279 = 91,321
3. Butch Jones, Tennessee, 75,300 + 569 = 75,869

Just cut the gap by 290. Tweet by tweet we rise.

How BK isn't #1 I don't know. Les and Butch are the head coaches at the most famous schools in their state. BK is the head coach of a religious institution's team. Big difference in marketability.

I wonder how many of these coaches actually tweet themselves rather than have someone in the AD do it?

I read an article awhile back that said UT has a "social media coordinator" and assistants who review tweets, facebook postings, etc. So some of the tweets are not directly from Jones, but some are definitely him. What % is or isn't, I have no clue. I'd venture to say every tweet is his thought though. When you're the man, in conversation you can say to your underling "hey, that was pretty good, tweet that for me. Also get me a smokey dog, now"

Unfortunately, this notion is no longer considered sarcasm. It's reality for a large number of people.

Will this win us games in the fall? No.

But entirely meaningless? Also, imo, no.

As much as anything else, UT had a branding issue. CBJ has used Twitter, amongst other things, to go about fixing that issue. TN is becoming a place kids want to go again.

Caveat being that if product on the field doesn't improve, then, it becomes meaningless.
