Just one opinion here, but I think it might be best for everyone to strongly consider dropping this conversation about Lawson. And even if someone did have first-hand knowledge of something unfortunate that was said, I'd certainly be sad to see it get repeated on a message board. It's better to just let it go and NOT be baited into publicly airing our dirty laundry.

Everyone knows that fans of other programs would love nothing more than for someone to come on here and lay out, one hurtful thing after another, every single negative thing ever said about Tennessee, the Lady Vols, the coaching staff, etc., because having all that bouncing around for all to read and spread is absolutely wonderful for opposing fans to see.

Don't fall for it. Let it drop completely. 🙏🏼

What I fear most is that Kellie will be someone who always does just enough to make it hard to fire her, but never does enough to move the needle and get us back to our place as the gold standard of women’s basketball. So we just end up stuck in the same place for years to come.
Very perceptive post, SGMVols.

Kara said in failure you have two options

1. Tell yourself the truth
2. Keep lying to yourself
First off, I am a Kara Lawson fan but in Kara's first four seasons at Duke, she has made the S16 once and finished 10th, tied for 2nd and 7th in the ACC conference (her first season as coach was cancelled due to Covid).

In her first four years at Tennessee, Kellie has 2 S16s and finished 3rd 4 times (this season tied for 4th), in a stronger conference. She has an objectively better record over the same time period and more first round WNBA picks than Kara (anticipating RJ).

Often overlooked, Kellie's record at Tennessee is greatly improved from her time as HC at NCST (where she was sub .500 in conference and 52% overall).

She has gotten much better. The narrative that Kellie is the "same coach" as in her NCST failure ignores the obvious evidence of her own improvement curve.

Maybe you should quote Kellie instead.....

So, put you down as a #2

Honest question.

Did the improvement at UT over NCST come because of CKJH changing and growing or because of the vast resources of being at UT and what it has to offer?

If the answer is mostly because of the advantages UT has over NCST, what could someone besides CKJH have done?

Not insinuating anything trying to full evaluate the comments made.

No, not at all. Look at the facts and then look in the mirror.
You’re spoiling their narrative. Without accurate self analysis of your team, it’s difficult to correct short comings. It’s obvious Kellie has moved this team forward. Let this one play out. The better the LV do, the more miserable they will become.

At NCST, Kellie followed a legend Kay Yow. This era was pre-NIL. NCST was a major women's powerhouse. What vast "resources differences" existed?.

I just keep hearing people say that the lure of playing at Tennessee is an advantage she has over places like NCST.

Kellie always has a reason. It’s not like she followed Summitt.
Again, you deflect. The claim was that Kellie's improvement reflects the vast resource advantage she had tennessee over NCST. I would suggest that such a difference did not exist and in the current NIL environment, Kellie may be relatively worse off from a resource standpoint than she was at NCST.

Serious, are these endless deflections intentional (which I suspect) or do you have problem some kind of reading comprehension problem?

Amazing! I said the following

Kara said in failure you have two options

1. Tell yourself the truth
2. Keep lying to yourself

And you made this a protect Kellie. So, please tell me where the deflection was. I didn’t parlay the two as parallels…might need to retract that “comprehension” comment.

So, put you down as a #2 still?

I will admit, you are pretty good!! But, thank gosh for the digital trail.

You jumped into a side thread between myself and Dadof2Vols on whether Kellie had more resources at UT versus NCST (as the reason for her improved coaching record). Then you incongruously retorted, "Kellie always has a reason. It’s not like she followed Summitt."

To recall a common refrain on this board from a few years back, "Holly is that you?"

Guess you should have tagged that one to stay on task. Which goes to “Kellie always has a reason”

But no, not Darth, Holly or anyone else you feel.
