Exactly. We keep hearing about NIL being the reason for Kellie's recruitment failures, yet she got Boyd, Brooks and Chastain to commit...all highly rated players. What, are we to believe that they are such pure, saintly players, and that UNLIKE ALL THE OTHER TOP HS PLAYERS they can't be bought? Give me a break!
My understanding, and Earl would know better, is they're able to get enough sometimes for some players by beating the bushes. But there is no big pot of $$$ waiting to be dipped into, or at least it's not big enough. That's what they have to build.

Hopefully, finally, we're about to get some clarity on this with the LVs getting a new, better NIL source. I'd be happy to not have the NIL argument any more.

I've heard his argument, but then how is it that they still were able to get commitments from Chastain and Brooks without the big pot of $$$ that recruits of that level supposedly expect? And Talaysia Cooper was a top 15 recruit who also came to Tennessee with their empty piggy bank. Unless they are SUCH high quality individuals that they can't be bought? Seems like it's a convenient yet unprovable excuse.

All I can tell you is I know about 4 people who know what they're talking about and they all say the same thing.

Again, I don't think it's about those individual players being saintly or anything, more that in those particular situations at the time they're able to come up w the bag required to outbid whoever else wants that player. Always ad hoc to meet the moment, sometimes doesn't work.

But hopefully, that's about to change. Plus everything will change whenever cooler heads prevail and NIL gets reorganized.

Amb, actually the biggest contradiction to this is Kaniya Boyd’s commitment. The other prospects have ties to the South. Boyd as far as I know does not. She enrolled as an early enrollee. Right there in her backyard is Utah and UNLV. Florida State in a preferable destination if she wanted a change in scenery is a big attraction as an ACC school. Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Texas A&M all SEC offers including Tennessee. She commits as a West Coast prospect to Tennessee when options for NIL were clearly available based on what is accessible from her recruitment process. Reading and making an inference is all that is necessary to know what we’re talking about. I’m not saying NIL is not relevant because obviously it is. I just don’t think it’s the deciding factor in every situation that didn’t end in Tennessee’s favor.

I agree with you 100%. I also think that posters like Earl or DeerPark are probably biased in their assessment due to their closeness to the program, and will parrot a party line that isn't damning to Kellie.

Only on the internet lol.

I think that's probably the case. I think this is being way over parsed. We get what we can afford. We don't get what we can't afford. We need to afford more.

I hope you're not referring to me here, because me being skeptical of what a hardcore LV booster and UT staffer say vs. pointing out the obvious holes in the story wouldn't be brainwashed; it's actually the opposite.
No of course not. I was referring to your description of Earl and Deer spouting party line. Part of KJH diabolical plan, dipping out the kool aid to the donors.

They are invested in the program and that’s a positive. Part of the problem to me is the other posters that constantly praise and speak as if any and every prospect that did not sign or commit to Tennessee is so called “what we could not pay for or afford due to NIL.” Man Kaniya Boyd is ranked higher than some of the players these same people push for Tennessee to give away money to. Also, as a basketball player she has talent. I do not care if a player is ranked 3 or 33 if they can play. Audi Crooks, Milaysia Fulwiley, Cotie McMahon, and Flaujae Johnson to name a handful were not Top 10 prospects out of HS.
At this point, I am just waiting on the next excuse when Tennessee does start to sign multiple HS prospects.

Danny white going to be really mad tonight. Kellie better hope he cools off before midnight and the rolling of the clock to April 1

That is the point some seem to stubbornly refuse to acknowledge-- if we could sign this player, how could NIL be a problem.

Well, if I am a multi-millionaire, I can afford one or two yachts. If am a billionaire, i can afford a dozen yachts. So, the multi-millionaire is relatively poor in this high end neighborhood.

Let's hope the UT AD is professional enough to not allow the results from one program to effect his judgment about another.
Maybe he takes a call from another AD to speak with Kellie. If he’s not taking calls, that’s a problem too.

Personally, I don't think they even believe what they're saying; they just don't want to paint the program in a bad light
Why would you assume they're all liars? The ones I know would have zero hesitation dissing anything they felt like. No obligation to make the program look good. That's opposite how donors work. The program currys favor with them, not vice versa.

NIL deals couldn't be made with high school players until recently. Legally you could not offer them anything now collectives can. So we'll see just how bad our NIL program is as you have a free reign to offer any deal you want through a collective.

Cooper is already doing quite well here with NIL. We should see some action in the portal need visits this week time to see who is coaching and what players are coming or going.

Any chance at all they know a heck of a lot more about this situation than you? But you keep guessing.

This is true. And while the majority of players out of high school are looking for $$$, not all of them are. Nyla and Finley are two that committed based on the program and the coach. I'm not sure about Kaniya; I just know she was on her visit when she made her commitment. To this point, none waivered once they said yes to Tennessee.

Are you saying NIL isn’t the ONLY factor elite recruits weight when choosing a school? Are you saying they also consider the coach and the program? I ask because we’re being told NIL is the MAIN reason elite HS recruits aren’t coming to Knoxville. Apparently they’re not also factoring in the coach and program.
