No, it's terrible.
No, it's terrible.
Who exactly was he supposed to sign when all the top talent had already signed elsewhere when he was hired? You can't hold it against Martin that the only commits he inherited from your hero were a 1) point guard who can't qualify and 2) the most overrated recruit in the entire 2011 class.
How do you figure? He had been recruiting for Missouri State for the past 3 years, and wound up at Tennessee in late March. Within 4 months time, he was able to put together a decent class with the bodies that we NEED. We lost too many people last from last season, so we can't afford to not acquire bodies.
Practically everybody he signed (with the exception of maybe Richardson) is a project. I could understand maybe one project, but four or five. None of those players will play in the SEC (and if they do we are really in trouble). Hell, one guy we signed didn't even start for his high school team. That is pathetic.
Tennessee is under no obligation to keep anyone on scholarship for 4 years. The only alternative to signing them is to play next season with 7 scholarship players. That's disaster waiting to happen.
We shouldn't be recruiting players if we don't expect to have them here four years. We could have signed one or two instead of wasting four or five scholarship on junk. BTW, if these players are so great, can anybody name one good team we beat out for these players.
I don't know how you can judge until you see players play in a competitive environment under the direction of a coach.
I don't think 90% of the people on this site would know how to judge a good basketball player anyway.
