Purdue?????

I don't think there is a HIGH level D-1 coach who would actually leave their job for Purdue. utenn fans think their coach would leave for Purdue? lol wow

Step back and ask yourself, If I was a top 100 recruit would I want to go to Purdue?

HELL NO

I'm going to assume you are from Memphis and then this will all make sense.

Using that assessment, Johnny Majors would have never left National Champion Pitt for all the early misery in 1977 and 1978 at depleted UT. If you follow Martin, you know he has tremendous affection for Purdue. He was a Purdue star player and returned as an assistant coach for nine years. He met his wife in West Lafayette, which is a nice enough college town about an hour and fifteen minutes northwest of Indy. He may never go back to Purdue, but I truly believe he will listen and consider if the opportunity arises.

Probably for the same reason Pastner would leave for Tucson in a heartbeat if offered the job.

This has to be a joke. Purdue is easily a top 30 program.

Moving from Memphis to Arizona is a lateral move at best.

Thanks for thinking Memphis is a better program then Zona....but thats not true.

Like I said earlier....no recruits are banging on Purdue door, he thought it was hard to get players to utenn...imagine purdue!

West Lafayette is only two hours from Chicago (less than that to the Chi's southside). A good coach and recruiter in Chicago's back yard can build a relevant program in a relatively short amount of time. Martin is a good coach and recruiter and could do the job. I am hopeful that the current Purdue coach continues to have a good enough record (native Hoosier's tend to be patient) and I have no reason to be concerned.

Just when you thought they couldn't get dumber.

I'm guessing this posters probably 13-15 years old judging by the uneducated basketball knowledge, and early departure time(mommy said its time for bed).

Arizona and Purdue are not even close. Arizona is a top 10 program....Purdue is maybe top 75.

Not sure if serious.......Purdue is easily a top 25 program. Also, I don't consider AZ a top 10 program anymore and probably on the same level as Purdue IMO

Chances are, you are right. Just wondering how possible it would be. I'd hate to lose Coach Martin. By the way, my Reds are going to win the whole thing this year!!! :)

So when we win Saturday you'll start worrying about losing Dooley.

Kiffin leaving is the first time in 40 years that a UT men's fball coach left on his own accord (Doug Dickey to FL).
Kevin O'Neil left town because he couldn't get along with AD Dickey, otherwise the same could be said about basketball. That kind of record hardly seems worthy of the paranoia you display.

You ignorance is glaring. Purdue is Martin's alma mater. It is also a pretty nice job. Martin is also responsible for E'twaun Moore, Jajuan Johnson, and Robbie Hummel going there as he was the lead recruiter as an assistant at Purdue under Painter. So, in closing, he recruited just fine as an assistant there and the opportunity to be the head coach there would certainly intrigue him. Good luck with life. Next time, do a little research.

While I agree with your premise that the paranoia is a little rampant, I think using the Tennessee football program stability is off-base. For the majority of the 40 years you referenced, the program was coached by an alumnus who had no interest in coaching elsewhere. Bill Battle was the only coach in that timeframe that wasn't an alumnus of UT, and no one was knocking down his door to get him.

Would UCONN be interested in Cuonzo Martin? I sure hope not!! I think we have a very good coach on our hands. If they do show interest, would he show interest in them? They are a basketball destination.

Dude get the **** off this site. My God. Martin is a damn Vol. I hate to see threads like this. Turn your undivided attention to the florida ass whipping on ESPN this evening and get your head out of your ass. Seriously man, get the hell off this site if your are going to start threads like this. GO VOLS!!!!!!!

Martin hasn’t done anything to merit attention from any school of significance….of course I’m not saying he couldn’t mesmerize them with his disarming charm and charisma…

Wow :eek:hmy: Just wondering if he is good enough at this stage of his career to garner attention from a destination school like UCONN. I want him to stay for a long time but you never know. I'm not saying I heard a "RUMOR" about it. Geez, just getting a general feel from the bball community.

Wow! You really don't think so? I disagree. They have 3 national titles, which is only one less than Duke, the same number as Kansas, and one more than Louisville and Michigan State.
