Coach Martin and UCONN?

Wow! You really don't think so? I disagree. They have 3 national titles, which is only one less than Duke, the same number as Kansas, and one more than Louisville and Michigan State.

I honestly don't think so.

I think Jim Calhoun was that good of a coach.

I bet they fall off in the next few years.

Is Duke a destination job?

Yes. Duke also had some previous success before Coach K. Also, solid recruiting base, and they are a brand name, unlike UConn.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) I've heard that UConn's facilities suck too.

Duke had never won a championship prior to K's arrival. The northeast (Philly and NYC) is as fertile as it gets, plus UCONN recruits nationally as well. Not sure on their facilities honestly.

From living in connecticut the first half of my life, and having family that's die hard UCONN fans, I can tell you this isn't true.

UCONN will stay relevant on the national scene, if KO isn't the man for the job the AD will PAY BIG BUCKS, for that right guy. Also, connecticut may not sound like a good recruiting base, but check out rivals...they have a lot of prep school that bring in kids from across the country. Also, fwiw drummon was a Connecticut boy, actually caught him in HS a few times, freak athletically.

Their facilities are nice, but no not the best, however when you have championship trophies that sometimes rivals nicer facilities that have no trophies.

One other thing that'll help them, they are right up there with Kentucky, duke, UNC at former llayers in the NBA, and we all know how much that helps.

I have no doubt UCONN will remain a constant on the national scene for basketball.

This is kind of how I felt too. Trophies speak volumes. I think 95+% of coaches today would consider UCONN a destination job, but to each their own.

Well, Drummond is going to be the next Dwight Howard

(I'm a Pistons fan BTW)

I have to disagree considering basketball is the only thing going for UCONN for both men's and women's sports programs from a national standpoint. They may fall off, but that won't be because of lack of effort. They will go out and get a big name coach to keep the men's program rolling. They have tradition and name recognition and have had successful players in the NBA (Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton come to mind). Every single coach that interviews for that job would stay there for the remainder of their entire coaching career if they could.

VolinMichigan:

UNC, Indiana, and Kentucky all disagreee with you. All major programs that took huge steps back after loosing a legend.
