Coach Pearl Dismissed Major Wingate

Sorry, LG, 437 missed his AM benzo. We all know you're just kidding, and that you're trying to lure Pearl to coach your football team once the Urban Legend is dispelled.

Anyway, back on subject. . . .Good for Pearl. A lot of people in Vol country have been calling for stricter discipline in the athletic department, and this shows that CBP is following Fulmer's lead. Eventually, you hope that kids will get the message:

If you make bad decisions, they will have consequences.

From what I heard after the Saturday scrimmage, we won't be missing Major for long.

I'm sure he's had plenty of chances to get his act together.

Is there a chance Jamere Hendrix will be allowed back on the team this year?

Coach also gave Jermere multiple chances to come back and play alst year, he couldn't get it together from what I understand.

 Thanks for your reply. I was to quick to judge your comment.

Don't sweat it. I know my joking nature can sometimes be a bit acerbic, especially since I am posting it on a Vol board as a Gator fan!! I am just sort of a self-appointed representative of the relatively good-humored and semi-rational fans of UF and took it upon myself some time ago to be a regular poster here. Just to let you know not all of us think UF is robbed by the officials EVERY time we lose. Most of the time, yes. But not every time.

Don't worry, I will say something groundless and just plain mean here fairly soon and you can blast me then. Probably be in the next 11 days, is my guess. So keep an eye out.

First, he probably missed his dose because Pearl stole it. Oh, crap, not AGAIN .... :)

Second, yes, I think it is good to see these coaches having the cajones to let players go when it threatens to disrupt what they are trying to build. Its too bad, but maybe the kid can learn something from it. Point is, things can get to a stage where you have to protect the rest of the team. Evidently got to that point with this guy and that's too bad.

This was probably just a quick comment, but I don't think it's fair to say that Pearl is following Fulmer's lead in regards to discipline when he booted Hendrix in 2005 following all of the off-season trouble that the football team had that year. If anybody's following anybody, it's the other way around.

Guys, this news didn't exactly brighten my day, but thanks for keeping all of us updated on what's going on. Well, so much for having more depth in the frontcourt. I suppose this will press both Chism and Crews into starting roles and increase the role played by Passley.

Don't you think Chism and Crews are both undersized to be playing center in the SEC? Crews is more like a SF, maybe a PF. Chism is 6'9", 230 pounds. He's a legit PF, but C may be stretching it too much for him.

You may be right, but there're nobody else, unless I'm forgetting about somebody.

Nope, not forgetting anyone. Unless you want to count mid-major prospect Ryan Childress, who did a descent job last year allowing Wingate to rest a couple of minutes a game, ha.

I figured Crews would start at SF... but it looks like PF now. Chism will have to take the C spot. I heard he guarded Greg Oden pretty tough at some camp (can't think of the name).

Forget Oden, what about Jakim Noah and Tito Hartford...we need someone to guard that duo...as well as Corey Brewer (he's like 6'9 now)

At least we have a lot of depth at the guard position. If I'm going to have depth at only one place, I'd rather it be in the backcourt than the frontcourt. Unfortunately, though, this will probably make for another rough physical year for Bradshaw. I wish Wingate could have gotten himself booted back when Pearl could have signed a replacement.

We needed Wingate!!! What if there's an injury????

Yeah, pretty much. For the most part, we are now in the same position we were in last year, except the frontcourt and the PG position are a lot younger, but we do at least have more depth at guard. At least we have UT football to keep us entertained while the basketball program gets back on its feet. :post-4-1090547912:

thats nice of Pearl to keep him on scholarship but what a dumb decission. They gave him every chance to get on track and he didnt. This is a big loss he was playing great near the end of the year.
