Coachery

It's a hard one to follow seems like 20 names mentioned and they are getting progressively worse, but no telling if any of them have any truth to them.
I think they are just trying us to beg and applaud for the number 7 choice because 8 and 9 are so bad. We certainly have a had a rough go the past 15 years.

That dude is a giant.
My buddy does business with him. Says he was a great basketball player....but a horrible businessman. He doesn't have a clue what he is doing, lol.

I really wish we could have landed his son here. Great player as well.

Sean Peyton makes $8.5M/year. He is the 4th highest paid coach behind Belichick, Carroll, and Gruden. That'd be some serious FU money.

The biggest thing for me is what would make a coach want to leave the NFL (especially when he has a solid roster), and come to the year long grind of recruiting and evaluation that is NCAA football.

BUT. If I was going to have an NFL coach, I'd love to have Peyton or Mike Tomlin. And I could TOTALLY see Mike Tomlin leave Pittsburgh. He has to know his time is running out there, especially with Big Ben leaving, and no real option at QB (sorry Dobbs). They had their best shot this year, and blew it.
OP said it wasn't Payton. As far as Tomlin remember when Butch was here, he would come hang out on campus? Loves Sutton. With Ben thinking about retiring I could see him thinking about dipping not wanting to work through another rebuild.
But its a pipe dream and I doubt it happens. Although its fun to talk about rather than argue about Heupel all night.

I HOPE that it truly is that we have a home run hire that is out of left field that show we mean business, and that all of the other names were just smokescreens and people guessing at the type of coach UT has gotten in the past.

I really believe that Danny "Big Balls" White is gonna make a killer hire that he could have never made at UCF or Buffalo. I don't think he is fishing from the same pond here.

Either way, no matter what, I'm going to support the heck out of the hire, because him failing means we're right back in the same spot again.

Sure. I think Tomlin would be an instant hit here, and he is only 48 years old. He isn't old by any stretch. He's been with the Steelers since 2007 as Head Coach. They hired him at age 34. That's insane.

And to be clear, I hate the Steelers. But any coach that can manage the personalities of Antonio Brown and LeVeon Bell is a winner in my book. The dude has coached some of the best NFL players of this generation.

Seriously, if he approached Tomlin, then yeah, I'm impressed. You go for who is relevant and who you think can ignite a spark in your fanbase and program.

Tomlin's salary is $8M a year, btw.
His contract ends this year unless they pick up an option. Offer 10 what do we have to lose, he also does have a college background although its from way back when.

It would be a bigger pull then Saban

We have been going to Superica for brunch if it's nice outside.
Nice. Given my age and the virus, I've not been down except for logistical support. The lady of that couple got dragged off a curb by her Basset Hound and suffered a trimalleolar ankle fracture with dislocation. A neighbor (a physician, possibly you) reduced it and wrapped it on the street and I helped out with logistics for her surgery. Bummer, but the quick reduction helped with ligament damage.

You guys have already figured out who it is.
Just to be clear another thought towards Mike Tomlin is Jimmy Haslam owning the Browns would love to get Tomlin out of Pittsburgh since are major rivals. That might be a coach UT could have received the backing of extra money from the Haslems that they normally would want to go cheap.🤔

It wasn't me and that stinks. That's a pretty serious break.
