First, I believe in everything Butch is doing? However, do you feel like there should be some changes on any of the positions other than HC?

For example, a couple of areas I was concerned (and there are a lot) was:
  1. The O-Line - I feel like they under-performed based on their experience.
  2. QB - never felt like our QB's improved throughout the season. We had injuries that definitely played into that, but overall I felt like the position was not adequately prepared.
Just curious on everyone's opinion.

I voted no because I believe they need more time.

Too soon to tell. Give them til after next season to see if they're working well as a whole or need minor changes.

I dont think we change any coaches this year unless they leave on their own accord. We've only seen one year under them. I think the numerous coaching changes the past few years have us thinking that turn over is what we should expect at the end of every season. I think all the coaches should get atleast one more year.

They have proved they can recruit top talent, lets give them the chance to develop it now.

On a side note... although i feel the oline under-achieved, lets not forget they were in a new scheme this year. I mean these guys had like 4 different o line coaches in their careers here.

This staff hasnt even been here a full year yet give them some time before we start calling for them to be fired. IIRC position coaches included we've had somewhere around 60 coaching changes the past few years. We need some stability right now.

Yes!!!
Freak should consider making changes. The posters on VN under performed without any improvement all season.

for stability's sake (and low talent levels largely the problem), keep the coaches. If after next year there is no improvement, or the following year (when we can tell it's the coaches and not the talent) , then make some changes

For starters, no one should be canned. Massive coaching turnover is what's gotten us in this mess.

That being said, and this will be controversial, I wouldn't mind seeing Tee added to the staff as a dedicated QBs coach. I'm sure Coach Jake is decent enough at development in that area, but we haven't had a real QB whisperer since Cutcliffe, unless you count Kiffin's work with Crompdaddy. And with the turnover currently going on at USCw, this would be the right time for him to correct the mistake he made a year ago.

I say Bring Back Tee. Again.

If you truly believe in everything Butch is doing that, by definition, would include his evaluation of assistant coaches.

Why don't we just completely change our coaching staff year in and year out til we finish a season with a bowl game/winning record? I mean... science..

I don't get all the gripes directed toward the Oline. The Vols had spotty QB play all year long coupled with poor wr play, but Neal still managed to go over a 1000 yards and he's no Walter Payton. I'd say under the circumstances they did well.

Discontinuty is not what got us in this mess. It was Fulmer's laziness followed by the worst coach in NCAA history.

Butch Jones will not be successful with his current coordinators. Team appeared poorly coached all year. To think otherwise is more ostrich-like behavior here at VN following the Dooley fiasco. Unfortunately, Butch agrees with you, and it will likely be his undoing.

Some simply look for something to gripe about Carl.

Why should someone/anyone have to believe in everything Butch is doing?
I for example right now only believe in his recruiting (because there is evidence so far he can do that well).
At the same time I do not believe in his staff evaluation or game planning/in game coaching (because so far there is no evidence that he does that well - and I don't want to hear what his best in America bearcat staff did in their previous high school level jobs - that does not apply in SEC).
