His lack of success at Penn State is a little baffling to me too. All of the sanctions/child sex fallout is over. He won 9 games at Vanderbilt twice and can't get Penn State over the hump. What gives?

He didn't get the benefit of an entire division of powerhouses being down when he showed up.

If Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida didn't all suck the 3 years he was at Vandy, he'd never be at Penn St.

Franklin is 41-29 as a HC. Would Vandy take him back even after the rape trial a few years ago? To me it seems like a cloud over his short tenure there.

The Vandy Admin probably would never do it, but I'm sure most of their increasingly shrinking fanbase would be all for it. He'd probably even at least temporarily win back some of the fans that showed up when started winning.

On top of that, it's not like Mason is going anywhere. They are fine right now with him going 4-8/5-7.

None of them will happen. In fact, if the Texas boosters have any sense at all, Strong has earned himself at least one more season through recruiting alone. A large portion of his talent is made up of of freshmen and sophmores. He should have one more season to see how those freshmen develop.

He also walked into a deep, if not exceptionally talented roster. Bobby Johnson was big on red shirting as a way to build depth. Franklin emptied the cupboard and brought in some guys who never would've been admitted under the Johnson/Caldwell regime and who definitely wouldn't get in now. Perfect storm.

The fact that bill o Brian did more with less proves how bad he is

That sounds like the Missouri approach under Pinkel

Disagree with your #6 pick there. Expectations were high this year but aren't they every year at OU? Stoops hasn't been a complete failure this year.

I only put stoops at 6 because he is the only other major job possible up for grabs

Complete no go on OU getting rid of Stoops without serious cause. I found out yesterday his buyout is pretty significant and his contract is through 2021.

College Sports: Oklahoma regents approve contract extension for Sooners coach Bob Stoops | SportsDay

$36 million in base salary over this season and five more. OU has serious money, but I'm not sure they are prepared to buy him out over another 8-4, 9-3 season.

Brian Kelly is definitely gone after their loss to NC State in the deluge. that was a fun game to watch before ours started.

Will Oregon go after Chip Kelly? He's having a tough time adjusting to the NFL

If I had to pick I think right now there is a lot better of a chance for oregons coach to be fired over Kelly

Stoops is there as long as he keeps winning big 12 titles

I think Helton has weathered the storm btw. As long as gets to a bowl he'll be fine

Oklahoma fans are just as bad or worse than all SEC fans when it comes to championships. He hasn't had one and the only thing he can hang his hat on is a B12 Title and barely getting a RRR win. While it may buy him another year it wont sit well with the fans or Alum.

Don't count on that. It was reported today that Herman was all in with Texas unless Helton gets fired. USC just might do it to get their man.
