Coach's Subtle Comment About Officiating

The SEC is the problem. They're the masterminds. Complaining them is complaining to the ones who wanted the bad calls. They want to protect Bama and Georgia at all costs, because they have the best chances at getting in the playoffs. They're the darlings. The SEC can't live not having a team in the CFP for the first time since its inception, the year before massive expansion happens. The SEC has to stay on top.
This right here ^^^^^^!!

Yeah that certainly helps. But good luck beating Bama at Bama when they have 5 penalty yards for an entire game under any circumstance. I’m curious if that’s an SEC record for fewest yards in a game. Maybe they just that disciplined and played that clean of a game?
Nope. Bama had one game back in 2018 where they had 0 penalties. Yes, 0 penalties. They’ll always be cheaters, hell we hired a Gump to coach our team and he was a cheater as well. It runs in the blood of that program. They’re all trash.

Having officials answer questions after the game from the media like players and coaches are required to do would go a long way as well. There is just simply no accountability for the officials. I can handle getting beat (I don't like it!!!) but not when the officials play that big of a part in it. I realize they are human and make mistakes but that was ridiculous. Players and coaches work extremely hard, fans spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a weekend for all this to take place. It just a tough pill to swallow and it makes sports not as much fun to watch. I could maybe understand if we got the good end of officiating every so often but we couldn't even get calls again Austin Peay in Neyland. Let that sink in!!

That would soooo perfect if they had to explain their ineptness/or whatever to a crowded room of reporters and millioms of viewers.

Not Heupel's job. I'm sure he has someone at UT on it, but you don't want your Head Coach dealing with that. It would be like the CEO of a major corporation doing HR background checks.

Heupel (unlike some other previous UT coaches) seems very good at understanding what the job of a HC is and what it isn't.
Apparently its not anyone's job any where by any body at any time.

You can complain to the SEC all you want. They will feed you the script mumbo jumbo "We will take care of it" and nothing happens. How long till these coaches take matters in their own hands and it becomes unsafe for the crooked refs to be in the game. Getting absolutely obliterated by walk-ons. You dont wanna call a fair game? fine. you wont be here to call it then. Not saying i want to see that happen, but honestly i wouldnt lose sleep over seeing it happen either.

Mandatory Reading right here.

If you can understand this then you begin to understand the process.

Don't be so shocked/naive.

Next time we play in Alabubba, just forfeit the game in advance since we know the outcome already. Unless you can get officials from some other conference to officiate our game with them. Yes, it's that bad. 5 yrds penalty on Bama. A blind man could see that.

I hope and pray no SEC team gets in, unless we can sneak in.

Wonder if Cutcliffe in his new role as special assistant to the commissioner has any influence on the commissioner as his title would seem to indicate?

Ridiculous. Vols should've won!
It's ridiculous how obvious the penalties were and yet they refuse to call them. The hold on squirrel and Mccastles in the endzone were maddening along with Baron getting chokehold on the long TD pass given up.

It makes watching the games unenjoyable. I don't know that's it's going to change. Feels like Vegas controls everything

Would've been better had Tenn shown up in the 2nd half so that the officiating would have undoubtedly cost them the game and everyone would know it.

I like Heupel as a coach, and I believe great things are ahead for Tennessee football. My criticism is going for it on fourth down in our own end of the field. Great if you make it, but sets the other team up for quick, easy scores if you don't make it. Our side of the 50, punt. And maybe surprise the defense with a quick slat or sideline toss.
I'd be more ok with it if we took our massive QB and lined him up under center. We are turning 4th and 1 into 4th and more by being in shotgun

Refs were awful as in one sided. But we gave them one TD on each side of the ball. Of course our defensive gimme should have been offset by the most obvious and openly viewable holding call in all of the NCAA this year.
I just think we are too young. Once the calls start going against you, you play more tentative and that is the reason the Vols did not get going the second half.
CJH was trying to light a fire underneath them but the calls or lack thereof by the Refs really is a downer for players. Hard to overcome.

Watching the Pat Mcafee show and he is hammering refs. Pro and college(especially the Iowa fair catch) He even said the ref during the Browns/Colts game was on the fix 😬

Money!

All about the money!

We all know Bama is going to bring in TV ratings and fan support.

Sankey won’t let Nick Saban lose his last few years on the job!

Yes this is going to take a coaches unified response to Sankey at the SEC spring meeting and then of course Sankey would not admit to anything but it could get some attention to it if all coaches were involved. Would not have high expectations. Why would Saban want to be involved.

The most effective thing is publicizing these bad calls. I’ve seen a few people change their opinions once they saw the evidence. It would be a little boring, but, I wouldn’t mind if they would introduce the officiating crew so they can’t remain anonymous. Start attaching names to these performances. Are they ALL from Birmingham?
No, the head official was from Tuscaloosa.

Sounds like a plan. Get into a pissing contest with the league officials who seemingly answer to no one. Ask Vitello how his run ins with the umpires along with his players worked out for him and the team. They're still being squeezed at the plate going on two years now. Besides, everyone saw it and knows what went down. The league office shrugs and continues on. Not a thing will happen and Heupel and our team draw even more bad calls no matter who we're playing.
Then why play the game? The players know if a coach and administration have their back, so regard if the efforts are in vain, CH and DW must stick the double standard officiating under the nose of the SEC.
