The ones in the stadium around us repeatedly said, I’ll take it but this is atrocious. The guy in front of me was berating the DB for the PI on Squirrel in the endzone (3rd down play) only to start laughing hysterically when no flag was thrown. He admitted the game was decided on the GJL holding call against Burton and there was nothing that would allow UT to come back and win that game.I had Bammer fans watching the game with us and they were laughing their azz off over the officiating..Even they admitted the Vols probably would have won if the officiating had been even close to fair..I don't whine or cry when it's off maybe a little..But these officials were absolutely pathetic..Something needs to change but I have no answer for the solution..But pititful officiating seems to be an epidemic all over the SEC.....
JMHO
Even on that one he blatantly went for the ball and hit it but contact with it. However, McClellan was completely and unequivocally off the ground when it happened but the play was dead in the sense he wasn’t getting away. But in the most finite of technical terms he was not down. The punch by Herring that Bama fans are crying about...Herring got the number mixed up. He thought it was Burton and he was letting him know you can't punch a 130# woman in the face because you lost a football game, even if you are afraid for your safety. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I think heupel is above that, but this garbage sure affects his livelihood. He’s being paid millions to win ball games. If the refs are blatantly favoring other teams, and the SEC won’t do anything about it, then there’s nothing you can do. Money ruins everythingYou can complain to the SEC all you want. They will feed you the script mumbo jumbo "We will take care of it" and nothing happens. How long till these coaches take matters in their own hands and it becomes unsafe for the crooked refs to be in the game. Getting absolutely obliterated by walk-ons. You dont wanna call a fair game? fine. you wont be here to call it then. Not saying i want to see that happen, but honestly i wouldnt lose sleep over seeing it happen either.
That's the part that gets me this season. Growing up, I always heard that the good calls v. the bad calls even out over a season, but that sure hasn't happened yet. And it's not the questionable ones that seem to be the issue, it's the brutally obvious ones that everyone EXCEPT the striped shirts can see. Or do they just shut their eyes and/or ignore the obvious?Having officials answer questions after the game from the media like players and coaches are required to do would go a long way as well. There is just simply no accountability for the officials. I can handle getting beat (I don't like it!!!) but not when the officials play that big of a part in it. I realize they are human and make mistakes but that was ridiculous. Players and coaches work extremely hard, fans spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a weekend for all this to take place. It just a tough pill to swallow and it makes sports not as much fun to watch. I could maybe understand if we got the good end of officiating every so often but we couldn't even get calls again Austin Peay in Neyland. Let that sink in!!
The SEC is the problem. They're the masterminds. Complaining them is complaining to the ones who wanted the bad calls. They want to protect Bama and Georgia at all costs, because they have the best chances at getting in the playoffs. They're the darlings. The SEC can't live not having a team in the CFP for the first time since its inception, the year before massive expansion happens. The SEC has to stay on top.
Bob is clueless anywayThe long pause was telling, of course...
But, I watched the JH Show today...and it was mostly routine...until they showed Joe's last pass into the end zone on 4th down...
Coach said, "Squirrel wasn't able to get away from the 'grab coverage'..."
No laugh, and Bob didn't even bite...
LOL...Subtle...Did anyone else hear it?
They will get a team in.
They get paid from Birmingham. The most effective thing is publicizing these bad calls. I’ve seen a few people change their opinions once they saw the evidence. It would be a little boring, but, I wouldn’t mind if they would introduce the officiating crew so they can’t remain anonymous. Start attaching names to these performances. Are they ALL from Birmingham?
Lets just sit back and watch what happens in LSU game in two weeks at turd. LSU will get hosed as well.Only reason Tennessee won last year is bc they were undefeated. When they lost to Florida they lost the right to be allowed to play a game vs Bama or Georgia on a level playing field. Can’t have Tennessee getting in the way of Bama being undefeated in conference play, also can’t allow Tennessee to blemish Georgia’s unbeaten streak.
It is a good ole boy network and has been for years. All about money and power. The SEC has taken it on the chin this year and with Texas and Oklahoma it will only get harder. Skankey and his goons will take care of teams that give them the best chance to make the playoffs. Skankey is a weak pawn. You can complain to the SEC all you want.
You can tell hype was pissed about losing and the officiating affecting that game outcome.I think heupel is above that, but this garbage sure affects his livelihood. Really believe that is why they decided to expand to twelve teams due to your last statements. So what happens next year when there are 12 teams in the playoff and the SEC has expanded to include OU and Texas? Going to be very hard to protect 4 teams and I'm assuming the thought is to (1) have at least 1 best case would be 2 in the top 4 and (2) as many as possible in the other 8.
Alabama must play Georgia (home) and LSU, Oklahoma and us on the road.
Georgia plays Bama and Texas on the road. The other top level teams are at home.
Texas plays Oklahoma and Auburn and has Georgia at home.
OU has Bama and us at home but LSU on the road.
Then there is Florida who is always a dark horse as to how good or bad they will play. And LSU, us and we can't forget about Ole Miss.
Missouri could be real - time will tell and Kentucky will also cause issues for some teams.
I think the years of having an undefeated SEC team is probably over starting next year. I don't think having an undefeated team in the Big 10 or ACC though is over which could make next year interesting.
