First things first- I sincerely hope Tennessee pulls off a historic upset in Norman this Saturday night. I'll be in orange on my couch hanging on every play. I have stated previously we will lose this game...in spite of how hard we collectively cheer for the Big Orange.

So, in light of the anarchy that will undoubtedly consume this board around 10pm ET Saturday night, I was hoping to go ahead and start a thread for all of us who saw this loss coming.

We'll call it the 'Coalition of the Realists'. We are passionate about Tennessee football, love the school, and want nothing more than for our team to be relevant again. And with that, we recognize that we simply aren't there yet. In some circles, this description is what is known as a 'Negavol'.

If you meet the above criteria, please come on in and announce your presence now before the game even begins.

That way, if the Vols do win, we collectively admit we were wrong on all accounts and grossly underestimated CBJ and the team. However, if/when the Vols do lose, we won't have to engage in any amateurish gloating or I told you so's.

This won't end well...

I will also be gloating if we win not because I predicted it but because I love the Vols! Predictions mean squat compared to a W lol.

I'm down with that. It would be right up there with the Clint Stoerner miracle in my books.

Both sides need to chill out. Even this independent faction trying to form. We will only lose by 12 and everyone has a little bit to chew on good and bad. If I am wrong blame this 1998 penny that I have designated as responsible for my predictions. It seems as reliable as all other methods I have researched.

If Oregonvol's poll is any kind of indicator, a lot of people have bought in to the thought that we will beat OU on Saturday. A lot more than I figured. If you think we beat OU, you really have to believe we are a 10-2 or better type team, right?

It would FAR surpass the Stoerner miracle in my books. In 98 we were supposed to beat the Razorbacks.

The closest thing to it in my eyes would be the Miami win in the Sugar bowl BUT we WERE in the Sugar Bowl already lol. To me beating Oklahoma would far surpass anything that has happened in my 44 years of bleeding orange!

I'll be decked out in orange in Norman for the game. Tickets cost me bottles of wine

I'm not going there with high expectations of a victory; however, I will cheer loudly for the Vols and hope for the upset. The difference in a realist and a nega-vol is simple. The latter says there is no chance to win period. The realist understands the odds are against us but there is always a chance - we cheer and hope for a few breaks to go our way

Because we have usually been pretty good. There never really were teams far superior to us. That hasn't been the case the last 6 years or so :s

Why I requested that NOT happen post game. I'll abide by the guidelines. Can't guarantee that for everybody else in our merry band of men.

Don't be so cynical. :)

HAHA PJ what would you call someone that expects this team to win this year vs arguably one of the top teams in the country on their home field?

I dont care about I told you so's I would be thrilled with a win but am amazed how many are calling it lol.

I put it in another thread but I think the '86 Sugar Bowl gets too much upset love. We were SEC Champs and top 10 ranked. What made that win so sweet was that so many people dismissed us in spite of that being the case.
