Coffee Aficionados?

It will go through without plunging but it won't all go through.

Might be the grind too.

Anybody here ever try pour over brewing? I just started doing this with my fresh ground beans and it is a great way to make coffee.

Go to YouTube and look up "inverted aeropress".

I burned the ever loving crap out of my hand doing that. Seriously bad.

Wasn't different enough for the hassle.

Also tried one of those metal screen filters that is supposed to let the oils through.

Same thing - the traditional method with the regular filters makes a great cup every time. No need (for me) to mess with that.

FYI

I grind mine coffee a bit finer than Starbucks ground.

I fill coffee to just above the filter cap (probably a scoop and a half?) When compressed it's probably 1/2 inch thick.

I fill water to the 4 mark, stir for 10 seconds and start plunging. Takes about 15 seconds to plunge.

Videos show serious steeping times (like 2 minutes). I don't go for that shizz.

Yes, I can definitely see how this wouldn't be the safest practice, but if you're obsessed with not letting those first few under extracted ounces through before plunging, it seems like about the only way. I'm with you, though. Doesn't seem like it would be worth the risk of 2nd degree burns to get a negligibly more extracted version of coffee.

That's how I do it, especially if my grind isn't super-fine. I have thought on multiple occasions: " I bet you could burn the crap out of yourself if you aren't careful! "

I was curious about that. Glad I don't won't waste the money :hi:

So I was inadvertently following this schedule and FWIW, I've never felt like I had a coffee addiction nor do I ever have the feeling that I need coffee to function when I wake up.

Ummmm... coffee. Switched 2 weeks ago from K-Cup to a French Press. Excellent move, superior flavor and body to the brew. Got a grinder, rapid water boiler, and a 4 cup press.

No complaints and much improved over the Keurig system.

I've been on a cold-brew kick this summer. I love it so much I wonder if in the winter how it would be warmed up in a kettle....

You're making me want to try it.

Buy one Freak, it's $30 tops, plus a bag of coffee. You can get elaborate with a bean grinder and whole bean coffee, but it's not really needed for a good cup of coffee.

I was hooked on K-cups for years, it gets expensive after a while, considering how much coffee I drink in a days time.

I bet you'll love it.

F Kcups, but if you do there is one called "dark magic" that is pretty good.

Sorry it's called Dark Magic. I corrected it.
