Coker

me on now
Are you a personal friend of Coker or something? Neither Foster nor Coker have proved themselves against a tough defense yet. The other poster was correct. Hardesty is tougher to bring down than either Coker or Foster, and there's ZERO reason to change his position. He's a redshirt freshman.

Come on now ! We all have seen the production, Coker is getting it done right now, and Hardesty is not ! I agree Hardesty does not run north and south in the games. Coker his the hole running. I am not biased in anyway because I love them all the same for being Vols. However, I think Montario Hardesty is not letting the game come to him, the jukes and shakes usually lands him nowhere. I seriously think if the roles were reversed in the Florida game meaning if Coker was the back, we would have won !

You're right about the competition for Coker and Foster part...the problem is...Hardesty DIDN'T prove himself against the same competition. Other the the run against Cal he hasn't done much. I agree he's tough to bring down IF he's running "down hill". He's not real hard to bring down when he's doing his MC Hammer impression in the backfield. All I know is that they had a lot of 2nd and 2 and 2nd and 3 situations last Sat. because Coker hit it up in the hole and got 7 or 8 on 1st down. That didn't happen as much when Hammer was in the game. Maybe they move him...maybe they don't...but at this point you're insane if you think he's anything other than the clear #3. As far as being Coker's friend...anybody wearing orange who runs like that can be my friend.

He is either a family member of Coker or has a crush on him, not sure which one. :whistling:
If I have a crush on the guy running his :censored: off, you must have one on the guy who apparently hears "I Feel Good" in his helmet and does his best James Brown in the backfield. You're getting on to me for taking up for Coker...do you seriously think Hardesty's as good as Coker right now?

Coker is better runner right now then Hardesty who has been running against the same defenses weak or average. Coker is strong north and south while Hardesty has had tendency to juke too much and that shortens his runs. Hope all do well vs UGA.

Yes, I've seen Coker have a phenomenal came against an atrocious Marshall team, and a good game against a terrible Memphis team. Come talk to me when Coker posts a good game against a good team.

Will do...but how about we talk about the games Hardesty had against those same teams. I'm not hyping Coker for the :censored:ing Heisman...I'm saying, right now, he's much better than Hardesty.

The line is also coming along. Team is learning as season progresses.

You guys are amazing. The line IS NOT coming along. The line has looked better in the last two games because the level of our competition has been terrible. However, our offensive line still couldn't get a push against a terrible Memphis team to let us run the ball in from the 1-yard line on 3 consecutive plays.

...when Hardesty was in...are you seriously going to say they aren't getting better because of one series?!

I did not say Hardesty was better than Coker right now. I didnt even say he would eventually "be better" than Coker. Coker is being more productive at RB right now. He is certianly doing what he does very well. Hardesty is at times, but nowhere near as consistent as he needs to. He will learn to hit the first hole and stop dancing though. And, when he does Coker-Hardesty is going to be the best backfield in the SEC. They are different RB's. They could end up being much like Cadillac and Brown at Auburn before its said and done. I was addressing the ridiculous implications that Hardesty was not any good and had so little potential at RB that he should be moved to defense. Thats ridiculous.

I agree with most of this. My question is this...where's Foster in your equation? He's only a year ahead of them. Where is he going? I'm not saying he can't become a very good back...I agree that if he does progress that Coker/Hardesty could be devastating. The problem is...there's not two of them. There's three...and who loses reps so he can learn to stop dancing?

just move hardesty to fb and let foster and coker share the wealth at tb. if you can teach hardesty to block.

What I'm saying is that you can't look at games against Marshall and Memphis and claim that the offensive line is getting better. They're playing seriously inferior opponents. These performances don't tell you anything about how our offensive line will play against quality defenses like Florida, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, or Alabama. The fact of the matter is that our offensive line can't get a strong push to allow us to run up the middle. As a result, Coker probably should be our most effective running back. He's the fastest of our running backs and has the best ability to bounce runs to the outside when our pitiful offensive line gets stuffed by the defense. The problem for Coker, though, is that the better defenses that he'll be playing against will have the speed to prevent him from getting to the corner so easily.

You can if you know what you're looking at. I can tell when my linemen are getting better against the scout team. I'm not saying they are the best in the history of the school, but they ARE getting better.
