I was listening to Cowherd's broadcast today, and he was talking about the new BCS rankings. He said UT got screwed. He went on to say that UT should be ranked 3rd after Ohio State and Michigan. He made me feel ashamed for just settling and wanting to be in the top 10 ahead of a Cal team we spanked. haha

Plus, in non-UT talk, Cowherd completely blistered Miami for the fight, and how they've never been able to control their players. It was some great radio. I don't know if you've heard, but Lamar Thomas, Miami's WR from 93-95, was an analyst for the game on CSS. He's probably about to get the boot because he actually made these comments during the fight:

``Now, that's what I'm talking about,'' Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. ``You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing.''

I know Tennessee hasnt exactly produced a bunch of angels (Little, Haynesworth, Henry...), and I completely despise the actions of our guys, but Thomas and that fight show that Miami is nothing but a knucklehead factory. If Coker wasn't gonna lose his job, he sure is now. Good Job guys! haha Who knows, maybe Coker and Thomas might get together and check out the wanted ads together.

I wondered who that was doing the color! I couldn't believe the stuff he said (and thought, surely he will get canned!).

BTW, short memory I guess, what did Travis Henry ever do wrong?

That was Lamar Thomas who is a Miami alumn. Even Michael Irvin said he should be fired. Lamar Thomas was supposed to be on ESPN Radio to explain his side of the story, but I missed it. I was on lunch break.

He was accused of statutory rape with a 14 year old girl when he was in Buffalo. Also had a 4 game suspension for subtance abuse. That killed me because I couldn't get enough of him running the ball between the checkerboards.

I don't get to see everything he does, but I've been tuning in pretty regularly to Cowherd's show lately. To his credit, he's been giving alot of props to the SEC - especially Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and LSU. And he's got enough sense to say that a 1 loss SEC team DEFINITELY deserves a higher ranking and a better bowl bid than an undefeated Louisville or West Virginia.

Cowherd is cool and all but I really don't want this guy on our Band-Wagon. Usually when he likes someone they end up losing(The Cowherd Jinx). And at the beginning of the year he picked Cal to beat UT by 3 TDs and said UT players were criminals. So, Cowherd stay the heck off of UT's Band-Wagon! :shaking2:

The Herd is a deuche. He is normally a USC homer. It seems covering Florida-Auburn on ESPN 360 has helped edge out his homerness to a degree.

Let Cal beat USC and then ask him if UT is the best one-loss team in the country.

Me too . . . IMO he's one of the few national guys worth listening to for anything other than pro sports.

i don't agree with everything he says not because he's wrong but because i don't want to agree with what he says, which is generally the truth.

Back to Lamar Thomas: As I posted on another thread, I heard on ESPNU at 6:00 that CSS canned him this afternoon. I don't think they had any choice but to cut him loose. He's a fool!

I don't agree with him all the time either, but I think he's a sports guy that "get's it". He is the polar opposite of the current crop of sports journalists/talk show host who are always trying to act like they are smarter than everybody else.

he also is one of the few guys who spends more time talking about college football than NFL football, which i like.

Too bad Le Batard has the personality of a pet rock. His opinions are usually right on the money.

His local show down here is classic. Tonight there were references to Tommy Tutone, the Iron Shiek, Mel Gibson's character in "Ransom," and Jocelyn Elders.

I used to get DL for three hours every Sunday morning on ESPN radio. He always had another reporter on singing the state farm jingle.

Some of his best shows were right after Tyson fights. I don't remember specifics, but I do recall that being some of the best radio I had heard in a long time.

Cowherd has been great ever since his days back here in Portland. I listen to his broadcast a time or two per week.

cowherd is anything but a ut fan, this is the first time i can remember any positive comments about the vols, keep lovin usc cowherd, if ut suffers one loss you will hear him pontificate about cals loss being early and a fluke. same crap last year with usc and texas, all usc til texas beat them, now texas is big on his list. definite sec basher, regardless of a few crumbs he throws to the south, i am a hoosier, but he really disparages the south/southern football.:nono:
