I like our bullpen. Some guys like Evans, Fitzgibbons, McCracken, and Fanning will develop, and we get the JUCO + a couple of highly regarded freshmen.

It's the Catcher position I'm worried about.
Trusting Tony and Frank will Belzona over any weak spots…

Hard to have enough leftie pitching.

But, catcher is admittedly the key need. Even though, I bet Charlie Taylor hits over .250 next year.

Sounds like Dickey wants to claim it. If TV brings Skenes on board, might be best to wait until the portal is closed.

Not worried about the bat; we need a catcher for defensive purposes. We can not allow a walk to end up at second or third because we can not throw runners out on attempted steals.

Agreed, but the "Evan Russell" issue was also a bit exaggerated this past season. He wasn't elite behind the plate, but he was certainly fine, and a good portion of our failure to throw guys out had to do with pitchers being slow to home plate. People like to just point the blame at Evan a lot, but Burns and Dolly need to work this off-season on getting a bit faster to home.

Fine. He did a pretty good job at receiving the pitches, not many pass balls, but he seldom threw the baseball close to the base on attempted steals. I don't believe he will make a living at the catcher position.

Well, I never said he would "make a living" as the overwhelming majority of players don't make it to the Major Leagues. Just pointing out there was a lot of huff and puff about Russell, but he wasn't the only reason teams stole bags so easily.

I can steal off Burns.

Hopefully, this summer, he is adding a slide step or reduced leg kick.

It's not all on the catcher. Pitchers need a better slide step to the plate. Half a second is a lot when it comes to stealing a base .

It is OK to admit that we had a problem veery now and then in a lot of our sports' teams. Catching is the second most important position on a baseball team and we need some better play a that position. That is public knowledge and we should be able to improve the defensive aspect of the position.

I mean, I have said a number of times in the past that catching was an issue and we need to get it fixed. So, I know this. I'm just simply expressing my opinion that the blame doesn't solely rest there. There are several avenues in which we can shore up this deficiency next season!

Most of those steals would have been successful if 1987 Benito Santiago had been behind the plate. They were stealing on our pitchers.

I am worried about having a bat at catcher. Taylor is fine defensively, but we can’t have an automatic out in the lineup.

Taylor is a good defensive catcher. He doesn't hit, but defense is more important. We'll be okay if he's our catcher. But I still want an upgrade, of course.

I disagree with this, respectfully, of course.
