College Baseball - Transfer Portal Tracker

Eager to see the development of Chambers, Booker, Ensley, Tears, and others will in 2023. Some of these guys will make a huge jump, we just don’t know who.

Plus there will probably be a couple or more freshmen who make positive contributions - such as last year. The mystery of all that now, and then watching it all unfold in the fall and spring is a lot of fun.

I'd keep an eye on someone , who has power, plays the outfield , was the conference player of the year, might happen to be the sports gods giving Tennessee a gift back for Butch Jones. Jones somehow had success that there led to him going to Tennessee.

The plot thickens. As Arte Johnson would say: Berry interesting!

Are you saying this transfer is coming from Central Michigan lol?

I could be wrong but I don’t think players can take their names out of the MLB draft

Exactly. No one “enters” the draft. You’re either eligible to be drafted or you’re not. And you’re either drafted or you’re not. If you are, you either sign or you don’t. No one declares or enters or withdraws.

nice get if it materializes, 19 homers last year which means he’ll hit 29 on our small field

Mentioned in a thread the other day to keep an eye on Charlotte RHP Andrew Lindsey, and the former Walters State pitcher has committed to Tennessee this evening. Didn’t play this past season due to personal reasons, but in 2021, went 6-2 in 20 starts with a 4.89 ERA. Led the team in innings pitched (81.0) and struck out 76.

Continues to bolster Tennessee's pitching staff, and oh by the way, I also continue to have great feelings when it comes to a Camden Sewell return.

Two other names to keep an eye on: VCU SS Connor Hujsak and Cincinnati OF Griffin Merritt

Merritt was the AAC Player of the Year, playing left field, and hit .309 with 17 homers, 47 RBIs, 41 runs, slugged .676, a 1.053 OPS during the regular season.

Hujsak led VCU with 17 stolen bases, started 61 of 62 games, hit .289 with 12 homers and 20 doubles, an OBP of .363 and a slugging percentage of .526
-VQ.

Would love to land both of those. Hujsak would give us some flexibility in the infield. Right now, you almost have to start Moore at 2B, with Ahuna at SS and Denton at 3B. Hujsak provides depth at all three of those positions. And if he proves to be one of our best 9, he could start at 2B and push Moore to LF.

If we also land Merritt, he joins OF competition with Backus, Moore, Booker, Scott, Stanwich, Chapman, Tears, and Drieling. Hard to imagine coming out of that competition without 3 good starters and a good 4th depth guy. And Dickey can focus on Catcher.

Y'all keep sleeping on Steenstra. If he gets his hitting going, he will play a lot. His defense is spectacular. I see him as the starting 2nd baseman if he hits.

Strong indications that he has played his last baseball and is pursuing his career. Wish him the best of luck! 🍀
