College Gameday..(merged)

To make fun of a Division III game is ridiculous. These are REAL student-athletes. Kirk, Lee and Chris will have a blast at this game.

Agreed. I've been mostly done with Gameday for several years now -- I barely even watch anymore -- but I think it's great that they're going to a DIII school. As long as fans are going to insist on believing that the klieg lights of the Gameday crew confer some sort of ineffable blessing or vindication or something on the game they visit, it's nice to have some of that attention occasionally directed at "real student-athletes," as you call them. I like it.

Now that I think about it, I don't mind one a year... When you think about it, what does the location actually mean for the show anyways?

Who cares where they go? I think it's very cool they are covering smaller schools and giving them their fifteen minutes of fame. It's fun to watch even if it's done inside Bristol. Big deal. You guys just want to find a reason to hate ESPN.

Why this game? Does anyone outside those schools care, seriously?

Same reason they've been to an Ivy League game and a game between two historically black colleges in recent years; to draw attention to the fact that college football is still played by actual student-athletes, well outside the mercenary NFL farm system of the big conferences. If you don't care, don't watch.

If they want to draw attention to smaller schools, fine. It doesn't matter where they are. But no one is going to change their minds about D-3. There is a reason it is a one time a year thing.
