College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

who thinks Walker is gone after this year also? Auburn gonna take a huge step back next year. Those two guys dont come along very often at the same time.

Tbh I’d rather us be the ones to take down a top ranked Pearl squad. But I’ll still be happy regardless.

I know in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't matter THAT much, but it would probably have been better for us for Auburn to win tonight for a variety of reasons. Cool off a scorching hot Arkansas team that is now in solo possession of 3rd place. Keep Auburn rolling, but rolling just enough for them to not need to "reset" mentally. This loss probably will do a lot of good for Auburn, refocus them just in time to come to TBA. Auburn has been teetering for a few weeks now and just barely escaping the loss. I was hoping we'd be the one to do it.

Vols have a tough stretch ahead of us, starting tomorrow night @ MS State. Then home vs Vandy and KY before on the road @ Arkansas and @ Mizz. Home vs Auburn then @ GA them finale vs Hogs in Knoxville. Love to see us go 6-2 and build momentum before tournament play but 5-3 is more realistic.

Wow.....we are not even close to them. Are you serious?

Historically? Arkansas has the edge, clearly; ten Elite Eight appearances (UT bows out here), six Final Fours, two title games, one natty? There’s no argument.

Contemporarily speaking? I agree with golfballs in that Tennessee gets the nod. And given that this isn’t akin to comparing an all-time great (Texas) to a relative ingenue (Boise?) a la football, I feel the assessment is quite valid.

UNLV won a natty in the early 90s too.

It could still happen. We don’t play them for 2.5 weeks and basketball gets pretty wild down the home stretch. There’s always a chance they get ranked back up there. Gonzaga plays Saint Mary’s this weekend so that’s no gimme. Purdue is going to lose between now and then. We could beat Kentucky. Arizona is the one that may not lose between now and then unless they lay an egg against Oregon. Lots that can happen until then.
