College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Surprised to not hear Kyle Smith for bigger name jobs. Especially since Golden was such a hot name. He laid the groundwork for Golden at SF and has gone to Washington St and really turned them around. They’re in the NIT semis, and they should return all but 1 player next year.

The fact that they are still playing is possibly why his name hasn't been connected to any jobs, yet.

I'm really interested in what Shaedon Sharpe decides to do at Kentucky. I mean I'm seeing him projected as top 5 in almost every draft projection. It would be crazy for him to not go to the draft with that high of stock. If he returned to Kentucky next season (which a lot of Kentucky fans and Cal himself even has repeated that he is for sure coming back) then he could risk injury or stock dropping.

It would be wild for him to come for half a season and never play a minute at Kentucky and basically use them to get into the NBA draft. That wouldn't be a good look for Cal imo when most of the fanbase is fed up with him after the Saint Peter's loss anyways.

If he is guaranteed to be a top-10 pick, he needs to go. Too much risk in coming back. He could get hurt, get exposed, or see a whole new group of kids pass him up. Part of his intrigue is the age and the unknown. That disappears if he plays at UK. He has a lot more to lose than he has to gain.

I was guessing that his reason not to play the last half of the season was because he was definitely going pro. The speculation was that the family decided it was not worth trying to get acclimated for so few games to risk getting exposed.

I think he’s definitely gone

It is embarrassing the lengths to which Georgetown will go to not fire Patrick Ewing. Why not just hire Nickelberry as HC if the plan is to just use him to bring a whole team with him lol?

Worst season in Georgetown history and Ewing is still there. If this Hail mary works, he’ll get all the credit, too…..

It won't. Two clowns coaching at Georgetown. You can't make this s------ up.

That seems like a great hire for Ewing. Especially if he actually brings those players w him. I don’t have anything against Ewing. In fact I like him. I don’t think he’s a good coach but I’d like to see him succeed

I don’t have anything against him necessarily, I just find it really dumb to be scared to fire someone because of who he was as a basketball player at the university. It reminds me of our situation with Fulmer.

It also doesn’t seem like the best way to build a program. Hire an assistant who brings in players to resurrect the dead program. What happens when those guys leave?

You hope that the program is stable by then with recruiting? If not you can him lol. I know it’s new age of coaching and coaches get fired quicker but I don’t see anything wrong with Georgetown trying to ride it out and see if Pat can turn it around. Some just take longer than others.

Volnation Haters get the Dream matchup in Duke-Arkansas. Hate Duke. Hate Arkansas. It’ll be hate, hate, hate in here nonstop for 2.5 hours. Then they get to keep hating for another week as one of them has to win. Such a joy for them.

Yeah I totally agree, if he doesn’t go then that’s a stupid decision in my opinion. If he ends up leaving then Kentucky’s roster is going to be interesting next season, they will still get guys in the portal like they did last year, but it will be different than what everyone was expecting when they had the #1 class before Sharpe reclassified

That’s what I interpreted as too, then Cal came out on Twitter and tweeted that he was coming back next year and was getting a ton of reps in practice for next year to learn the system. However I don’t buy that. I would be shocked if he came back when he projected top 10 in every draft

Think I would rather Duke win. We don’t want to have to recruit against an already white hot Musselman recruiting machine with a Final Four added on.

Lends further credence to my idea that we should get rid of stupid people on a committee selecting and seeding teams and let a computer do it every year.
I agree, don’t know why most people trust a group of people with biases and blind spots more than a computer. The methodology behind every ranking the computers used would need to be made public, though
