College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

I could see TAMU losing 5 more games, I could also see them losing only 2-3 more games. They’ve looked pretty good in conference play. It’s hard to know for sure, my only point being that their schedule doesn’t look all that formidable.

Edey w /16 Purdue 40-22 over Spartans
No player in the country impacts the game more than him. When he’s not on the floor I’m not sure Purdue is even a top 25 team. But they get so many easy baskets with him, either directly from him or from wide open cuts or kick out threes as a result of double or triple teaming him.

He's special has 37 now with 2 minutes remaining, just a great day

I think this is why I don’t buy them as actual national championship contenders though. Edey is kind of their entire team. You won’t shut him down, but you can certainly slow him down. And if he isn’t taking a game over Purdue doesn’t have the weapons to compensate for it. Reminds me a lot of Kentucky last year. They also had the NPOY and some freshmen guards. Tshiebwe was shut down in March and they lost because of it. I don’t think Purdue will lose to a 15-seed like UK, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if they got bounced early.

It would be in interesting to see how Edey would match up to our trio of bigs. I kind of like our chances with that matchup up.
I’ve only seen him play today which was his career high, but I suspect his sheer mass / height is more than we can handle. Only hope would be if Uros could keep him pushed out of low post position but in trying to do so Uros would probably foul out in 15 minutes. Aidoo would be overwhelmed and Awaka would be giving up 8” and 75 lbs. that dude is plain old huge and I don’t know how anybody would handle him. He does surprisingly well at not fouling too - just very impressive!

One thing I like about crazy Uros is that he doesn’t back down. This team needs that at times.

I understand a lot of people aren’t a fan of Uros. But I have always loved him. It’s nice to have a guy down low that doesn’t take **** from other post guys. I’ve seen enough Tennessee teams with no physicality in the paint to really appreciate what Uros brings to the table.

Is he sometimes a liability? Yes. But, especially after developing under Barnes, he’s usually a net positive on the floor. Guy always brings the energy.

We don't want to face Purdue until the finals in the Tourney. He will destroy our post play, we can only hope our 3 pt shooters are blistering the nets.

I’ve watched play several times in increments. They don’t really have a dynamic player around him. They’ve won a bunch of games by less than 5 where the opponent had chances. He will get his points, but as long as he doesn’t just go off, they can be beat.

Every good team has a guy like him in some regards

i wouldn’t be afraid of facing purdue at all. our perimeter players would torch theirs. we would just have to slow down edey some

Disagree. I’m not scared of Purdue in the slightest. I think they are extremely overrated. They are a literal one-man team and those teams don’t win national championships. I think we match up really well with Purdue and would beat them if we played. Edey hasn’t faced a team that plays with our physicality all season long, and you can’t rely on Freshman guards in March. They are Kentucky 2022.

I might have to eat crow, but I would love playing Purdue…I would start out same lineup, make him guard Nkamhoua out to the 3pt line and put him in tons of pick and rolls with Nkamhoua and Zeigler. Push the pace, make him work…then I would give Uros some minutes and tell him to be physical, again make Edey work, not sure Uros could hold up but he’s one of the few big men around I think physically might be able to give him some trouble. I think between those 2 styles he would be gassed, pick up some cheap fouls, and not nearly as effective as usual.

No, I agree. I’ve said it in a few other threads. I think we match up really well with Purdue and I think Purdue is primed for an early March exit with their roster construction. I’m not at all sold on them.

I recall when David Robinson towed the Navy ship to the elite eight single handedly.
