College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Except they have so far this season. They are averaging something like 94 ppg. Shooting 50.6% on the season and 42.6% from 3 (4th in the nation).

They won't wind up averaging that, but so far, they have been lighting it up. They also average 20 apg and only 8 TOs.

Yeah. It’s a 7 game sample at this point, which isn’t necessarily small. Those numbers will dip some but they are scoring at will on everyone. It’s the offense I was hoping to see from us this year, maybe not to that degree per se but something similar.

Just really hard to not be impressed with Kentucky at this point. Hurts me to utter those words but this recruiting class might save Cal’s job. The fact he has all of these freshmen playing this well together this early is scary. With Arkansas looking a bit shaky early on, and Alabama not having beat anyone with a pulse yet, I’d say Kentucky looks like the best team in the SEC to this point of the season.

This won’t age well

Curious to see how it changes when the posts come back…Cal has been slower to adapt to new age offensive basketball than Barnes, his posts being out forced his hand but does he stubbornly go back to his preferred style when they all get back?

I was thinking this as well, if the posts are solely used as rim protection on the defensive side then I think it makes Kentucky even better. However, if they start reverting back to Cal’s normal style on offense then they will clog the lane and make the team worse. Just my opinion

Ivisic and Bradshaw are both versatile inside players that can work on the perimeter, as well. Both can shoot the ball and certainly aren't plodding lane cloggers. I don't think he Cal has to change their current style by infusing those two. They can run the floor and they can shoot the ball in the flow of the current offense. Now, will he try to force them into being more traditional big men, that's a valid question.

We’ve yet to see Bradshaw or Ivisic attempt a single collegiate 3, I’m not immediately crowning them as stretch big men who will be firing up 3’s at a high clip….and yes, as you mention also, part of that is on the coach and his pat style.

Well, I certainly don't think they'll be shooting them at a high clip, but both are capable of hitting them from that range to the point they can't just he left unguarded. Point being, they aren't Shaq-type centers.

Sure, but neither have many of the others Cal had had in the past that he’s continued to stubbornly run his outdated offense with.

Oscar Tshiebwe
Nick Richards
Bam Adebayo
Dakari Johnson
Willie Cauley-Stein
Nerlens Noel

Those all played a more traditional center role and weren’t necessarily renowned shooters or ball-handlers who were held back by the offense.

KAT comes to mind as someone who has turned out to be a good shooter that didn't make much impact in that area at UK as he was pushed to play around the basket more. Still, in his lone year at UK, they went 38-1 before being upset by Wisconsin in the Final Four.

I don't think Ivisic and Bradshaw are good comps with any of those listed players. Perhaps it won't stop Cal from trying to push them into that kind of role, though.

Ivisic is really good.

Is SC legit? South Carolina plays their next game at 6 and 0 Clemson. SC is 7 and 0 after tonight's win. Doubt SC finishes last they were predicted preseason.
