College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

My disdain for Nate Oats surpasses Bruce Pearl levels of detest.
This is something I struggle with often , I go back and forth. I think I’d tend to agree but it’s close. The Miller thing and then the Mizzou shove probably out it over the top. It’s subject to change.

Auburn looks like a good team but not a great team. We should be able to handle them on our home floor. Still very early and a lot can and will change, but right now, my SEC top 5:

1) Tennessee
2) Alabama
3) Auburn
4) South Carolina
5) Kentucky

Think Kentucky will ultimately end up ahead of SC in the standings when it’s all said and done.

Auburn is a paper tiger. They haven’t beaten anyone and they don’t look like a team that’s likely to beat very many good teams.

I’m not sure that is my takeaway from this game. Auburn is still very good. It’s hard to win in Coleman. And Alabama is still a Top 10 team by metrics. I think Auburn will win on Saturday against State.

Yeah Auburn is still very good. I doubt we come away with a win in Coleman either.

They’re good. Probably not elite, but they’ll be in the top 4 of the SEC standings at the end. Hard to beat Alabama at Coleman and Auburn nearly pulled it off. I’d be surprised if we win down there.

maybe Arkansas plays the game of their life vs Kentucky on Saturday but man their a tough watch right now

Arky will give Kentucky their best shot. They’re desperate and everyone gets up for Kentucky. Even a sharp, desperate performance from Arkansas probably isn’t good enough to beat anyone with a pulse at this point, though. That‘a just a really bad team.

Ole Miss has to be the weirdest team in the SEC.

Undefeated in non-conference play. Gets ranked. Gets basted by Tennessee by 30. Then wins a few games. Gets ranked. Then gets blasted by 30 by Auburn. Now they are blasting Arkansas. Can’t figure them out.

Interesting matchup. Two really good bigs with Broome and Tolu. I’m going to go with Mississippi State in that one. Think you’ve gotta have really good guard play to beat State at the Hump and I’m not confident in Auburn’s guards.

Karma got Auburn’s guy missing the 3rd free throw as he kicked the bama guy on the shot. Officials need to make that a point of emphasis to call the foul on the shooter.

I think I enjoy seeing Arkansas lose almost as much as a Kentucky loss!

Depends on who can play for them, imo. Dealing with some injuries . I’d love to see that little weird oh rip off his shirt and give Kentucky the Pearl treatment

They’re reminiscent of a couple years back when they had 2 NBA guys in the post and Pearl allowed his guards to jack perimeter shots at will. Broome is a hand full but KD Johnson and buddies won’t feed him enough. We will have to play close to the level against bama to beat the Tigers, and we can play even better so I think we’ll be favored

Stats were mostly even except bama made 11 threes to 5 for Auburn--that was the difference in the game. Auburn 5-25 from
three (20 percent) and bama was 11 for 30 (37 percent).
