College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Texas A&M with quite possibly one of the all-time collapses after beating a Top 5 TN at home. Flirting with their 5th straight loss when they were likely going to be a 7-seed.
Ahh, how soon we forget. 2001 Vols were 16-1 and ranked #4. Digger Phelps kept saying all year up to then that we weren’t any good. He was obsessed with getting out that message. We proceeded to go 2-8 in our next 10 with 5 losses in a row at the end of that. We eaked into the tournament where we proceeded to lose to a crappy team in the first round. I think it was Charlotte (not sure).

Correct, 70-63. I was on Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale and gave up 3 precious hours at the beach to watch that atrocity.

I remember that well. We rolled into Lexington #4 and our only loss was to Virginia in the Jimmy V Classic a month earlier before Christmas. I remember the George Plaster show the talk before that UK game was that it was a "passing of the torch" game from UK to UT being the spotlight team in the SEC. And we laid a giant egg while that game helped turn UK's season around. I remember that's when the fanbase completely turned against Green and the final home game against LSU there were only like 9K fans at the game.

That NCAAT game against Charlotte is by far the least I have ever cared about a Tennessee NCAAT game. I was at work while they were playing and I think I merely checked the score on ESPN.com every now and then. It's the only NCAAT game Tennessee has played in since I have been alive that I didn't watch.

Imagine turning on a coach that won 20+ games every year he was here....got to the tourney every year...got the program to their first ever sweet 16 and finished with an 89-36 record. Green told the fans to shove it and I didn't blame him at all...especially having to sit through the Houston and Oneill years before he got here.

I also think I’m going to wake up tomorrow morning, but the world could end tonight.
All I’m saying was you were kinda going at people and acting as if it was a done deal, no if ands or buts about it, that’s all. Now you wanna pull back and say anything can happen, which obviously is always true and was those folks point.

Fair enough. This will all be moot when he’s hired in a few weeks.

Shoutout to my hometown Sycamores for beating Evansville last night and earning at least a share of the MVC title!
I enjoy watching the mid-majors and love seeing that Joey, a long-time St. Joe dude, is giving the little guys a loy more attention this year. Any thoughts out there on Mountain West strength? Onlu mid-major teams Ive been watching are from A10

Yeah I would agree. He’s got it made for him at AU. They’d have to give him a substantial raise for him to even think about it, and I’m sure Auburn would match.
The Louisville job is gonna slowly lose its luster if they don't somehow make there way to one of the two super conferences. The Big 10 and SEC are gonna suck the life out of the ones left out. I think they eventually top out at something like 24 a team each so maybe Louisville craws in the gate at the last minute.
