College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

So with all these “bubble” teams going deep into their tournaments, and now being declared by Lunardi-ites as having played their way in, who are the “locks” that are suddenly now out to give those other teams a spot? I don’t think it will work that way. I think only the bubble teams that actually win their tournament to get the aq will actually get in. Won’t be surprised to see both MSU and A&M not in the tourney if Auburn or Florida wins it. I think (and have always felt it’s the way it should be) the committee picks the at large teams at end of regular season and just slides unexpected automatic qualifiers in at the last second.

It would be really weird to see Mississippi State miss it. They're in the 30s in the NET and they have 4 quad 1 wins. Texas A&M is actually a bubble team, and they will serve as a test of how much the committee values quad 1 wins, since they have 7. I'm not sure the conference tournament has much to do with their fate, but the committee changes their criteria every year to match their decision, so it's hard to project.

You are right. I confused Mississippi State with Ole Miss in my old brain.

Both Ole Miss and Indiana have rejected NIT bids now. But good thing we took that automatic bid to the NIT away from mid-majors because clearly P5 programs are just dying to play in this tournament.

Indiana I get, even though they are nowhere near their former glory they still have the blue blood roots so I can see them being like naw.

But Ole Miss? Seems like they'd take it.

One Cent said Memphis may not play in the NIT either. But their administration may overrule him.

Petulant, childish reaction. They’ll play meaningless games versus low major teams in November but refuse to play in an actual competition with only one surviving at its conclusion? They’re Ole Freaking Miss, not KY. Ole Miss needs to give back their cut of the NCAAT revenue pie.

I imagine nobody on this forum is following the SEC Tournament at this point but Miss St with a 1-pt deficit with Auburn 56-57 in the 2nd half with 5:00 to go.

Auburn on a bit of a run now. It’s been a physical game with a ton of emotion.

I’m watching end of Purdue-Wisconsin game. Edey took three steps and then an easy three point play @ the rim.

Badgers stayed alive and down two with the ball - 2.7 seconds. Three ball coming.

Edey gets so many calls. I rarely discuss officiating. But the gene is tied @ 68 with 3 min left in overtime. The Badger player boxed out and got the rebound. Edey falls and Wisconsin called for the foul. Plus, it’s been a physical game so why call it?

Play before that Edey ran straight thru a guy, obviously a charge but nope

He took three consecutive steps that ended with a three point play fouled on layup).

Every time he touches the ball the whistle blows. Purdue had been @ the foul line the last six consecutive possessions

Edit- Purdue is 9-10 at the foul line in overtime. And there is 36 seconds remaining.

65-64 Purdue. Purdue has ball.
