College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Yeah I think with the exception of South Carolina, the SEC just has a bunch of good teams and we certainly don’t bring our A game every time out. That being said, of the close wins you listed, the UT and and South Carolina games are the only 2 I feel we truly escaped with the win
I’d put UGA in there too. Granted, it shouldn’t have required an escape as I think the refs gifted UGA the opportunity, but that kid had a clean look from a few feet away and just short-armed it.

Yeah I guess I’m kinda giving us a pass there because of the ref show that occurred in the last minute of game time. It was a series of unfortunate events. We made a couple mistakes that compounded it for sure but we did lead and control the whole game before that. And that shot that Newell missed would have only tied it to send it to OT, and he clear as day pushed off to even catch the ball on Cardwell’s back lol

Think it was Pat Adams or Doug Shows but can’t remember

Nah...Dougie Showtime would never blow a call in a tight game.

My family is full of Auburn fans and I was an Auburn fan before I went to UT so I still like Auburn. I like Pearl too. Great coach. I got to meet Cliff Ellis back when I was in college. Auburn was a 1 seed in the tourney that year (‘99).

Possibly. It also doesn't hurt that they are older, more experienced, and more talented than almost every team they face. They have five players who are 23+ years old. Baker-Mazara is 25. Denver Jones is 24. Chris Moore is 23. Ja'heim Hudson is 23. Dylan Cardwell is 23.
In addition to those five, Broome, Kelly, Pegues, and Johnson are all 22.
Makes it all the more surprising this team under Coach Pearl got bounced first game last year.
Will history repeat itself?

Had that super freshman come back they have been number 1 I bet. Smith, I think?
Choking like that in first round created doubt. They rank the teams at the beginning of the season how they think you'll finish at the end of the year iirc. Your schedule/who you play has a lot to do with that. Auburn had a really tough season this year. Really surprising they have the record they do. A lot of their wins were close though. Being a veteran team has definitely benefited them.

Legendary La Salle men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy will retire following the 2024-25 season.

Dunphy previously coached at Penn (1989-06) and Temple (2006-19), making him the only coach in history to helm multiple Big 5 programs. He currently has a 623-376 career record, and his resume includes 13 regular season conference championships in three different leagues, four conference Coach of the Year awards and 17 NCAA tournament appearances.

In three seasons at La Salle, Dunphy is 43-51 and is yet to finish with a winning record.
