The consensus #1 player in the country was a player we should not have taken?

You're kidding, right?

Well you don't know what type of conversation they had in private. The fact is we got virtually nothing out of him. We've literally had walk ons contribute to our program than him. I've always felt like give me a solid 3/4* kid that has a good work ethic and wants to be here over a 5* prima Donna.

He is literally a very good person. If you've seen anything from him since he entered the league, you'd know this. But no, since the coach he wanted to play for left and his family wanted him to come home against his wishes, he transferred. Therefore, in your eyes, he's a terrible person. Come down from your lofty throne.

Well I, for one, can. He destroyed our roster. First ofall he only signed something like 17 kids. Then 50% of them got kicked out. We never should have taken guys like nukeese, brown, or Jackson. Don't give Kiffin props for getting them to sign with us. He never got them to contribute anything

Indeed!

So if he ends up excelling and eventually starting in the league, when he announces his school...will it be Tennessee or the Safeway Training Program?

A coach that didn't "get it" and a player that didn't "want it".

Well, maybe he wanted a cheeseburger.

I never said he was a terrible person... I just said don't give Kiffin props for getting these guys to sign, because he wasn't able to get them to actually contribute anything to our program. And really more than anything... You're giving the single worst thing that has ever happened to our program (Kiffin) a compliment. I'm never going to agree with anything positive regarding that guy.

You are making literally no sense at all.

The single worst thing that has ever happened to our program is a coach coming in, bringing in a very talented class in a short amount of time, assembling a very good set assistants, making a bowl game and finishing with a winning record, putting us in great position with many recruits for the following year, then taking a new job that offered him a big raise?

Literally nothing you're saying makes any damn sense. First, we shouldn't have accepted two 5* and a highly-regarded 4* talent (at a time where we were scrounging because of a coaching change) because

...whatever the hell that means. Now our one winning season in the last 6 years is the worst thing that has ever happened.

Unless you mean the way that our fans reacted. Because that was certainly a dark day for Tennessee. Mobs at his house. Lighting things on fire. I was ashamed to be a Tennessee fan for a few days.

You have an unusual perspective on the whole Lane Kiffin era. First of all he signed a very small class that although did include a few highly touted kids, virtually none of them every ended up contributing anything. Then he leaves in the middle of the night one month before signing day. That left what would have been his second recruiting class in worse shape than his first. So yes, I do consider the short tenure by Lane Kiffin to be the single biggest setback our program has dealt with over the past 20 years. The fact that anyone could consider his tenure as a success and good for the program is outright shocking. And I think based on his time at usc that he is as bad of a coach as he is as a person. Dude had an entire team of future NFL players and had a losing record....

On your frequent and improper use of "figuratively", I direct you to the following video so that you may learn its proper usage: "Weird Al" Yankovic - Word Crimes - YouTube

Wanna play this game? Let's play.

1. The size of the class was so that he could have extra slots for the following class, when he had more time to get the great players. It's not his "fault" that they didn't want to stay at Tennessee when he left. It's simply the way the world of college athletics works.
2. The single biggest setback for this season is Phillip Fulmer's lack of even mediocre recruiting on the lines his last years. Kiffin had to start 2 walkons barely bigger than me. Because of this, the 2010 season featured an entire line (most of which is thanks to Kiffin, even though he was gone) that was new (besides Dallas). With Richardson leaving early, we now have no continuity on our line and it'll be that way for quite a while. That's a major problem that won't resolve itself unless players either don't work out and get replaced or leave early enough times over an extended period of time.
3. The biggest setback was the hiring of Dooley. At least the former coach had good qualities on the job. He could recruit. He could help a quarterback get better. If it wasn't a press conference, Dooley wasn't winning it.

I'm just sick and tired of people being butthurt because a coach took a different job, when they know good and well that if they were coaching at another prestigious institution and the UT job opened up, they'd leave just as quickly.

Oh me either. Apparently he was a great coach and representative of our program. I guess we have him to partly blame for all the success we've experienced these past few years....

Because I have a feeling he won't understand the concept of sarcasm... I'll go ahead and spell it out. I'm joking. He sucked!
