Brandon Jacobs had some pretty good years for the Giants.

Took the words right out of my mouth. 2 Super Bowls ain't bad.

Not to mention T.J. Yeldon is 6"2 and is what, 19?
Also, go look at Sabans recruits since he started not just RB's but all recruits, how many are under 6"0? ... Less than 10%.

If Hurd can run over the best talent in the country, I don't give a rats ass if he is 6"6. Plain and simple, it works for him and he wants to to play here.

I don't care if Hurd grows to 8 feet tall as long as he wants to play RB and knows how to play RB and play it right (which we all know he does). A lot of coaches wouldn't take a chance on McCullers because he was too big and didn't fit the 'prototype' and those coaches likely regret that decision and are going to regret it even more after this season.

There are a lot of players in all kinds of sports who don't fit the 'prototype' whether it's height, weight, speed, or any number of skills typically used to judge whether or not one should play a position and they don't need to. They break the prototype and redefine it.

Hurd is impressive... but, at 6' 3" if he grows any more, he will grow out of RB position. I can't name any 6' 4" RBs.

Hopefully, like most weight / height data provided, it's a bit fluffed up. Better yet, hope young Mr. Hurd redefines the position and kicks major ass.

The only RB I can think of that is close is probably Eddie George. But I think he was 6' 3" - but an incredible battering ram. (Yes, I know Jay Graham bested him in the Citrus Bowl and I was glad of it.)

Thank you. When is the last time we had a big bruising back that put fear in a linebacker. People need to get excited as opposed to trying to predict what position they think he's going to play. Butch knows football.

It's not all about how tall the player is but what his pad level and strength is. He's not going to be standing when he's running. If he can get below the linebackers pad level and he's strong enough to not get tripped up by the secondary; there is no issue.

Maxed out at 224 carries in his career, was ALWAYS suffering from some sort of injury and got waived by the Giants. 6' 4" is too tall for an RB. Not my opinion, reality.

Well no need to discuss this then..
You done pulled the ole REALITY card

Eddie George and Eric Dickerson were both 6'3 and had amazing careers in the NFL. Even if he grows an inch an is becomes 6'4, it won't make a difference in how he plays. If you can play, you can play. I trust our coaches judgement.

Pro RBs are always suffering injuries regardless of size. That is the nature of the position at the pro level. It's not a position I'd want my kid to play in the pros, especially if he was capable of switching to another position. Pro RBs don't have long careers, get hurt all the time, are on average paid less than other pro positions despite being in a featured/glory position and are basically chewed up and spit out at a rate that other positions aren't.

However, at the college level things are very different.

And to your point...not many 6'8 point guards until Magic Johnson came along. How did that work out?

Make'em all sing Rocky Top, Jalen!!!

Brandon Jacobs 6'4" 265lbs

Edit: Too late

But honestly if 6'3" is acceptable, than i dont see the big deal in another inch or 2 if he can run the ball

I mean literally pull out a measuring tape and look at the 2" mark

Thats like saying 6'4" is too tall for a CB but Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner would say otherwise

I remember making a player in Madden and he was a giant and faster than almost everybody in the game.

Cool story bro

I wish everyone would stop thinking something is wrong with Hurd's size. Eric Dickerson: 6-3, 220; Eddie George: 6-3, 235. Let's give it a rest.

both these backs were great and I think Dickerson is a top 3 to 7all time nfl back with tremendouse speed and long legs that once he got by the d line he out run everyone.

And I thought Hurd is too lanky to run over anyone. You know what those lb s heard? They Hurd a freight train running them over!

I too looked at the picture posted here and thought he looked lank. I still think that. But like I said, I never met he guy face to face. If he's one of those lank tanks with heavy bones (Eric Dickerson), he's going to be a treat watch. My fear is that some filthy defensive player will go after his knees as happened with Lattimore. And we know by his own admission Vandy coach Franklin actually coaches his players to do this.

Correction: Just saw the video of Jalen at camp. Doesn't look lanky. Looks like a freaking LB. Hope he's the RB we all believe he'll be but if he plays WR, oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If people wanna question his size, Beech plays Station Camp (Josh Malone's H.S.) in 80 days. IMO, some Nashville area vols should go out some time and watch some of these guys play. I know that when Hurd comes to Murfreesboro, I will be there just to show some support and I wanna watch him in person.

It is good to note, that the Beech vs Independence game will feature Hurd, RaShaan Gaulden, and Vic Wharton III.
