Comedy Central's Roast of James Franco

Not even close. But i did wish Steve-O would have kicked Amy Shumer in the *****.

LOL, my sister is very good friends with her. She even wrote a skit about her for her show. She's been doing her hair for like 8 years. She went to a party where Shumer tried to set her up with John Mayer (because all her "comedian friends are too insecure") and my sister panicked at the party and did an Irish goodbye. LOL

Wasnt it her who made the Ryan Dunn joke? Steve-O was pissed

I thought the world kind of overreacted about that a little bit. She didn't say anything negative about Ryan Dunn, nor did she make light of the fact that he died.

I think her joke was something along the lines of "I know as his friend you wish it had been you, and so did the rest of the world".

Lamponelli is terrible. I'm very tired of seeing her on all the roasts. It always ends up with half the roast making fun of her apparently sleeping with black guys. And she doesn't know how to handle being made fun of so she always does that thing where she throws her hands up in the air like she's celebrating. It's annoying.

Yes Silverman was great. The "Is this the Audit of James Franco" thing was great.

Aziz sucked but I've always maintained he is just not a very funny guy.

Samberg's was not the level of funny I expect from him.

Overall a decent roast I guess. It was nice seeing a cast of fresh faces.

See, she handles the roasts the way its meant to. And if others can't come up with more jokes about her thats their problem, Jeff Ross does the same thing when they make fun of him for being not famous or fat or ugly.

Without Giraldo it leaves a space, Ross has filled it pretty well, but now there's a spot needing a second headliner. last night Sarah Silverman surprised and did it, but none of us expected it.

Lamponelli, Jeselnik, Shumer, at least have the potential to bring that shock comedy that a large portion of america enjoy (as seen by shows like Tosh.o and Jeselnik/shumer's shows). Gottfried being there gives potential for the epic event that happened when his first joke bombed right after 9/11 and he did the most amazing version of the Aristocrats ever recorded.

What they did last night was meh at best. It had funny parts. But... part of the problem was the guy they got to do it. He's just not that famous or really that easy to make fun of like most of the others. Hopefully they can make it better next year.

I'm still hoping for Kidrock to come through, because that'd be hilarious as ****.

You should have Shumer call me then. I don't care if she's a whore or a little bigger than some guys prefer. I'd destroy that nine ways to sunday and not tell a soul :hi:

Haha. She goes out with Jeselnick. Her CC show seems to be destroying his CC show, critically-speaking.

Also, I wouldn't have made the Steve-O/Dunn joke if I were her (not my style), but it's a roast and the point is to offend.

Is she nearly as much of a whore as she makes it seem in her act and on her show, or is a lot of that just for comedy's sake?

That was a pretty low key roast imo. Only person who really went uncut was Silverman.

I don't find her or him funny at all, but she is kinda hot though, IMO.

And the point is to offend but dont bring up the guy who just died to his best friend, who you don't even know, expecting to get laughs. It was in very poor taste.

There have been plenty if roast jokes about people who have recently died, but that's the only one I can remember about somebody who was a close friend of a member of the dais. That said, the joke wasn't terribly over the line, but it still might have been better to leave it out.

Pretty sure they stopped dating a while ago.

I know she dated Dolph Ziggler the wrestler too. Not sure I can hang with "famous comedians and wrestlers" but I'd give it a shot haha.

The ones I remember the most were Giraldo joking about Heath Ledger dying, and then him saying (I think it was him) that he wishes one of the Olsen twins would OD so he could stop guessing which was which.

Far worse than Dunn, IMO, but one of Ledger's friends wasn't on the Dais either.

I wouldn't know.

BTW, my sister is somewhat famous in her own right. She's famous for a blogger. She has two blogs, and when it was her main focus she was getting 5K visitors a day. She may even be getting more than that now. Not sure. I've gone out a few times with her where people recognize her and bug her to talk. It's weird.

Ok, I'll add Jeff Ross. Jeff Ross slammed it home. I laughed at nearly everyone of his lines.

I still don't get Roasting James Franco though. He seems too young.

Its what happens when they get roasters that are not roasters. Ross and Silverman were good, the other chick had a couple good shots.

Franco being picked is a puzzler. Its always washed hacks

Yeah, I believe Silverman has been in other roasts in the past. Lisa Lampanelli is also a beast roaster, she should have been there.

Silverman was really good last year too. Lampanelli is great, I love roasters that go for the kill. It's why I miss Greg Girardo, dude was just go for the throat. He destroyed the Bob Saget roast. "You are the genital wart on the **** of American pop culture" line had my dying.

I was disappointed before I even watched it. I didn't want to see Rogan, Hill, Samberg or Hader. I wanted to see people who actually make their living on a stage. That's what made the other roasts so great. If they want to bring in new roasters, bring in Tosh, Dave Chappelle, Ron White, etc. it was no surprise that Silverman (a comedian) and Ross (also a comedian) killed it.

Comedy Central went too mainstream on this one, and it hurt them.
