Comment by Butch Jones regarding the significance of the Vol Walk

Any other coach says things like this and it's "coach speak"

CBJ says it, and its "Butch gets it". Lol

With your ridiculous comment, it sounds as if you have not been keeping up. Butch does get it. He has proven to all those who have a clue, that he follows thru on what he says, and he has proven to his players that he means what he says.

Butch has a plan, and he has followed his plan. The guy is one of the best organized, and one of the most dedicated to all the smallest details I have seen. It will pay off for us.

They should let fans donate $ of any amount to walk with the team during the Vol Walk. Any donation over $100 let's you run through the T. Stadium would be sold out every game. I'd go to every game and donate so I could run through it

Pearl-like as a salesman and exhorter. Has much better character and integrity though.

The big question I have is why is this even an issue? Any head coach that does not honor the traditions and the importance of UT's history in CFB should be fired on the spot. Butch understood that right up front. That should be a part of the due diligence of the hiring process. Before slamming Kiffin and Dools, even though they deserve it - understand that Fulmer also let the players use ear buds with their MP-3's/pods during the Vol Walk. It's a slippery slope when you stop paying attention to detail.

Look at this fan base to figure out why it's an issue. UT fans don't even hold the program in high esteem anymore. It's pathetic. They don't consider the Vols worthy to attend a game until they get back to winning. Makes me kind of sick to be honest.

My husband and I have had the privilege of running through the power T and let me tell ya, it was very memorable and to this day gives me cold chiils... We love UT and support our Coaches and Team to the end!! I stood there looking all around that huge stadium, breath taking to say the least..

GO VOLS..
GO BIG ORANGE ..

I'm jealous! Maybe one day I'll get the same opportunity. That's a great memory you'll never forget I'm sure.

You will also note that Butch has our boys clad in sport jacket and tie, rather than warmups, which is definitely an expression of professionalism and respect toward the tradition associated with the Vol Walk itself.

Coach Gillespie stated that the current staff was, by far, the most detail-oriented coaching staff with which he has ever been associated. That attention to detail will inevitably produce positive results.

Yes I did. I will have a followup e-mail with a few additional questions and comments. Were you able to traverse the Tioga Pass Road in Yosemite? Also, did you experience any fall color anywhere in Colorado?

I was at the north Alabama vol walk, The crowd was silent most of the time, I hope there's a more active crowd against GA.

You mean South Alabama, right? And the crowd was appropriate, I thought, for 10am following a loss. It was about what I expected.

Yes sir the pass was open, barely. It was almost other worldly, the sheer size of the mountains there. Some fall color was starting to appear, not as much as i hoped, i did see some aspen trying to change in the mtns before we got to Yosemite. I am going back soon, i had forgotten how great that area is.

That second part of your post was said about Dooley almost word for word.

BTW - all you Nancies need to relax. I've been a Butch supporter since day one, and come Saturday night, I'll be one defending him and his long term plan.

I asked a question. You didn't answer. Not sure why.

When's the last time you heard the sentiment that Tennessee was something special? Serious question.

Sorry, I just saw this question. Umm, doesn't every coach who has ever coached here say that Tennessee is a special place? And doesn't every coach at virtually every school say that where they are coaching is a special place, with unique tradition, etc? Look, I'm a staunch Butch Jones supporter and I blame 100% of our two losses on our lack of talent, not lack of coaching. He has nothing to work with this year, so I think it's really unfair to judge his coaching ability at all this entire year. I just don't get all jacked up with the rah rah talk because very coach does it, especially their first year. Next year we'll see.

I was referring specifically to the "California cool" look of the short-lived Kiffin era (see 7. Vol Walk Tennesse vs. Georgia Oct 10, 2009 - YouTube and Vol Walk 2009 - Lane Kiffin - First Vol Walk - Regular Season Game - YouTube), which featured polo shirts and warmup pants or a matching warmup suit).

As for the apparel of this year's team, there is a new video feature on the topic: The Vols Are Dressed For Success - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics. It is amazing how popular bow ties have become among Team 117.

One big change I've noticed is that these kids button their top button on their polo.
