Pearl-like as a salesman and exhorter. Has much better character and integrity though.

The big question I have is why is this even an issue? Any head coach that does not honor the traditions and the importance of UT's history in CFB should be fired on the spot. Butch understood that right up front. That should be a part of the due diligence of the hiring process. Before slamming Kiffin and Dools, even though they deserve it - understand that Fulmer also let the players use ear buds with their MP-3's/pods during the Vol Walk. It's a slippery slope when you stop paying attention to detail.

Everything you said here is true, except CBJ is getting the faculty evolved also, to understand what these players go thru when one of the ladies said "I have never meet a football coach". It will be one Tennessee soon

Umm, doesn't every coach who has ever coached here say that Tennessee is a special place? And doesn't every coach at virtually every school say that where they are coaching is a special place, with unique tradition, etc?

People here have short memories. There were plenty of these kind of threads during the Dooley honeymoon. But it was all forgotten when it turned out he couldn't actually coach.

Look at this fan base to figure out why it's an issue. UT fans don't even hold the program in high esteem anymore. It's pathetic. They don't consider the Vols worthy to attend a game until they get back to winning. Makes me kind of sick to be honest.

Thank you; for a while now I thought I was the only one with the same feeling about some of our "fans". I understand our recent history has been frustrating to say the least but Win or lose Vols for life!

Go Vols! :rock2:

If somehow we could pull the upset this weekend our goals would go from future to immediate and would make things considerably easier for CBJ to sell. We're due for something good to happen.

Yes, indeed. It's all part of the "win their hearts and minds" campaign. It is essential, particularly in lean times, and Butch is an absolute master at generating positive PR.

This guy gets into the weeds on every single detail. No wonder his been successful everywhere else. Attention to detail. I don't think I've seen a coach sweat the small stuff like CBJ. I'm glad he's our coach.

I agree and will go you one better. Butch specializes in microscopic analysis when it comes to the "small stuff."

You will also note that Butch has our boys clad in sport jacket and tie, rather than warmups, which is definitely an expression of professionalism and respect toward the tradition associated with the Vol Walk itself.

Coach Majors always wanted his players to wear coats and ties on the way to the stadium on game day!!!!:salute:

They should let fans donate $ of any amount to walk with the team during the Vol Walk. Any donation over $100 let's you run through the T. Stadium would be sold out every game. I'd go to every game and donate so I could run through it

That would be awesome!

It may be a gimmick but to give players who'd otherwise never get a chance to experience gameday in its fullest a shot to do just that through hardwork and effort even if they never play a snap that day is just an awesome thing to do.

I don't believe that it is a gimmick. Butch has often stated that Team 117 is not the most talented and that we have to overachieve in order to win. He will leave no stone unturned in exhorting our players to maximal effort.

I work weekends and I had to use all my vacation days already because of family emergencies. I can assure you that if that wasn't so, I would be in Neyland Stadium on Saturday afternoon to watch us upset Georgia.
