4 Year bump!

I see the rav4 was recommended a bit in here, how is the new design? I like the look of it much better, but wonder if there are any issues with the new remodel?

Also considering Nissan Rogue/Murano and Mazda CX5.

The rav-4 is a solid pick, but it lacks in equipment in my opinion. There is no option to get actual genuine leather only their man made "softex". Safety systems such as blind spot monitoring are only an option on the top trim.

I am biased, but the cx-5 gives you a lot of value for your money. Check out what consumer reports and "car and driver" reports about the vehicles.

Rav4 is probably low on my list, but I kept seeing it mentioned in here. Does that mean there are no heated seat options, I'm not sure I want to give that up!

I figured you would be biased with the cx5 :) I don't know much about Mazdas, but what are the different trim levels for the cx5?

The rav-4 has heated seats on the top trim.

On the cx-5 the trims go as such:

Sport - base trim
Touring- mid trim
Grand touring - top trim

If seat heaters are a must, the grand touring is the trim for you. It has genuine leather seats that are heated. Dual zone climate control. Blind spot monitoring system.

I have a 2014 Rogue SL with Premium Package. It's pretty impressive for the money (in my opinion). We had a 2004 Murano until a couple years ago, then got a 2013 Rogue (as the Murano was now too expensive for my comfort). When the 2014 came out, they made so many improvements that I had to make the switch.

What's the difference between the 13 and 14, I'm looking at both of those?

I drive a 2014 ford escape for work. Love it. I'm very tall and have plenty of room. Nice gas mileage and power.

I'll plug acura mdx. Bought one used, drove it 265k miles. 3 rows seating. Tons of options. Decent gas mileage. One of the best tings ive ever driven on ice / snow.

Downside: expensive, limited towing ability, not an off roader even though it is AWD/4WD.

Hard to recommend the Rogue, or any vehicle that uses a CVT. The minor increase in fuel economy is more than offset by questions regarding long-term reliability and the pathetic droning sound your engine makes.

Stick with a vehicle with a real transmission.

Never had issues with my altima

I'd recommend that you look online at various pictures and lists of features for the 2013 vs. 2014. The body was completely redesigned, all the dash indicators and systems were revamped, etc. There is an option in the 2014 for a 3rd row of seating, but it is pretty cramped back there and not available in the SL package. The only caveat to what I'm saying above is the 2014 Rogue S Special Edition...it's really just the old body style and called a 2014. Besides that all the other models are with the new body style.

And, as for the CVT issue, I have had a Murano, Altima, Maxima, and the two Rogues with the CVT. It didn't seem as loud to me in the cars (Altima and Maxima), and it wasn't too bad in the Murano. In the 2013 Rogue, it was pretty loud, but it's much more quiet (and smoother, too, in my opinion) in the 2014.

And, go to hell, Duke! (I had to, it's game week!)

I started looking into the differences this weekend after you mentioned it. I test drove a 2013 SL rogue on Saturday, and don't like that it is missing some of the things my altima has, but the 2014 has them. Going to look into 2014 now.

You'll like the '14 a LOT better. And, if you're getting really serious about it, I'd recommend visiting this forum: Rogue Forum

There are lots of good threads there, and people keep it real (if they are disappointed, they express it).
