Even though I've made these points dozens of times already-

1) Chris Petersen doesn't have a "family situation". Petersen's youngest son had a brain tumor when he was 13 months old. That was 11 years ago, with the exception of not being able to play contact sports because he has a shunt in his head that drains excess fluid into his stomach, the kid is healthy.

2) Petersen is Catholic.

3) Petersen's last name has 3 E's in it.

Strong would need to hire a great OC but he'll keep UF in every game with defense... not many people can out recruit the guy so he'll get top 5 talent yearly.

Wonder if they've approached Jeff Fisher's agent since he is on the hot seat? Fisher could obviously make more money in the pros but if he is looking for a change of pace, he might consider UF if he would consider any college job.

Fisher will never take a college job.

It would.

And John Brantley would become a whole lot more dangerous.

Change the system, add a fullback for a change and give him an OL, Brantley will excel. He has talent.

Brantley under Bobby P with the athletes that they have would be downright dirty. You guys seem to have forgotten that Petrino made Casey Dick a serviceable QB.

I don't know if it would get any more laughable if Bobby Petrino bolts from Arkansas after three seasons to take a job at a school in the same conference. Imagine the meltdown the state of Arkansas will go through if Petrino actually has the guts to do it. I actually want to see what happens. :eek:lol:

Taken from a Florida board. TIFWIW. Interesting read, sorry if already posted.

I've been a Gator fan for a while but have never posted on these message boards until now. The Meyer resignation, along with my personal connection to a top UF decision-maker, has led me here. I will not go as far as to reveal the connection.

I have credible information on the search Jeremy Foley is currently conducting. I do NOT claim to know who will choose to accept the HC position here, but my sources are credible. Once again, I am posting this information here purely as a take-it-or-leave it situation. I am not here to "troll" nor do I want to be "flamed". So here it goes:

According to my source, Foley has a list of target he is in the process of calling. Contrary to what Meyer has said, he will have a VERY limited role in the coach search, if any at all. It will be Foley and Machen's to decide..

Bob Stoops - They know chances are slim, they're calling as a matter-of-procedure in case anything has changed since last time. In reality, there is 0% chance of him coming, the call is a formality.

Chris Petersen - His name is on the list, and they will gauge interest from him even though it will be a tough draw to bring him here. Two things work against us: his love for staying in the Boise area and his family situation.

Names that my connection said to write-off:

Chip Kelly - not going anywhere, he is entrenched at Oregon, this is widely-known
Jim Harbaugh - no interest in him contrary to widespread desire by Florida fan base, not sure why, my connection did not say either
Charlie Strong - Foley is looking for an offensive-minded coach, that rumor is true; plus Strong is not seen as a "top candidate"

No one associated with the NFL, that means no Tony Dungy, Pete Carroll, Bill Cowher, and Jon Gruden.

The main name in our search is Bobby Petrino. My souce said Foley will be offering him the position pending discussion regarding buy-out, salary, bonuses, expectations, etc. The job is his if he so wants it.

Now if he doesn't, our fall-back is Dan Mullen. It's been reported lately that he intends to stay at MSU. People, do not believe everything coaches tell the media. However, if the Petrino deal does not go through, we will likely have to settle for Mullen. Foley does not consider Mullen a top-caliber candidate for a couple reasons I've heard: short stint as HC and his wins this year have not been against impressive teams (ours included).
So to conclude, this job is Petrino's for the taking. Things are still tricky due to issues surrounding his buyout and upcoming BCS bowl game. My source says to watch for news in the coming week and a half.

No, Gus Malzahn

LG, what are your thoughts on Petrino? Sorry if you have already answered this elswehere.

Sorry, just saw this.

Honestly, I don't really have an opinion on him. It seems that speculation about him has cooled today, though.

It seems like every day there is a new coach rumored to be the obvious shoe-in. And then the next day its a different coach.

I'm still rooting for Strong.

You'd hear a collective cry of "NOOOOO!!!" out of both UM and FSU if that happened because they could kiss South Florida good bye.

With Strong at the helm, are the coordinators obvious? Or would there be a search there too?

I really don't know the answer to that. He just took the job up at Louisville last year so its not like he's got a team of assistants that I would think he feels he has to be loyal to.

I thought the same thing, I just didn't know if there would be one lined up with him.

IMO, Strong won't be getting the job. Which is fine with me as a Vol fan.

Me too, he would be worse than the Zooker for you guys.

Not sure why everyone thinks that.

Just a feeling. Mainly he has very little experience as a head coach, couple that with the expectations the Gator fans will place on him. Every move he makes will be evaluated and any mistakes no matter the size will be blown up to be the end of the world just like Zook.

Personally I wouldn't want the job right now, like him or not, weather it was Urban or the coordinators, Tebow or what have you they have had one heck of a run. Any coach taking the job wil be expected to immediatly get back to 10+ wins and contend for a NC. I would rather be the guy that comes in after the guy replacing Urban.

whether.

Strong would have the defense in absolutely amazing form, recruit like hades, and it would, once again, come down to offensive competence and that coordinator.
