That's not what I was expecting. You are basically saying Strong is your guy then?

I'm a BIG Charlie Strong fan so I think he would be great for UF. Give him two years and he would have the program back in the SECCG. I would take Will Muscamp with Major Applewhite as OC anyday. IMO Coach Edsall would be a better hire than Petersen.

I have always believed that Strong had as much to do with Floridas success as Meyer. What suprises me is that a lot of UF fans never seemed to understand that. I don't know if he could succeed as HC at UF. He will have to get rid of Addazio and bring in a really good OC. But his defense would be top 10 every year.

John Gruden will be the next coach of the University of Florida. The deal was agreed upon last night. The announcement will be made the first of next week. The only impediment could be their negotiation with Tampa concerning his buyout.

If you know this to be true, why not start you're own thread? IMO an NFL guy won't work in Gainsville.

I think it's Chris Petersen.

Eiher Gruden or Petersen would be a great hire.

Please explain to me why he would be a great hire. Just because he has won at Boise, and Urban came from Utah? I keep hearing that comparison and I understand where its coming from, but IMHO Urban was lightning in a bottle.

And just so you know where I stand, if I was a Florida fan, I would have wanted the following coaches in this order.

Stoops
Harbaugh
Petrino
Mullen
Strong
Petersen

Petersen is definitely on the list but near the bottom.

Gruden's name surfaces every year, he loves the attention as does Spurrier and Stoops

I am willing to bet you can count the number of games you've watched Boise St. play on one hand, too. Dude, go watch them some more. They are one of the best coached teams in America. Period. Peterson can coach.

Stoops isn't leaving Oklahoma. That's his legacy at this point. Harbaugh's going to the NFL. They can offer way more money than any college team, and multiple NFL teams want him badly. Petrino isn't Foley's style. Say what you will about any of Florida's coaches, but Petrino is a scumbag. Indications are they want someone with head coaching experience, and with only 1 year under their belts Mullen and Strong don't look to be getting serious consideration.

But if you say he is near the bottom of their list, you must be in the know on this one....

LOL, I think you misinterpreted my post. Out of all the coaches in the country to hire, I just put Petersen in my top 6. I like Petersen a lot, I was trying to get another UF fan's opinion on it because I keep hearing the Meyer/Petersen comparison simply because they came from the same background. And the only reason I put both Mullen and Strong ahead of him is because of the SEC experience.

Another lol at the watch more Boise St. games comment, I have watched plenty.

Btw, what do you mean Petrino is not Foley's style?

One of the two will be announced as Florida's HC within the next 3 or 4 days. Stoops being more likely.

With that said, how do Vols fans feel about the hire; Which of the two would you rather not have to play against?
