Congrats Matt Simms

Anyone hating on Matt Simms is bang out of order. He was tough as nails and thrown under the bus by Derek MF Dooley who made him a practice dummy for opposing teams and never asked Chaney to apply some coaching.

I still believe Bray should never have come into that South Carolina game, and I still maintain we could have won that game with Simms and without the Bray pick-six.

Both Bray and Simms were handcuffed by Dooley (and Chaney).

I'm thrilled for Matt Simms. Can't remember - does his brother have an NFL TD to his name?

he has 13 , 12 by pass 1 by ground, and 25 turnovers , 18 int's and 7 lost fumbles

Real happy for him he took a beating at TN and never complained. I still to this day feel like he didn't get a fair shake when he was here. He played all the hard gms while Bray got to come in and mop up against weak competition.

I totally agree and have stated that for years now!

Bray must be pretty good in handcuffs considering he lead the best passing offense in school history last season.

Bray threw 2 games at UT. That's why people don't like him.

One of which he played in with a broken thumb and the flu ( Kentucky ). But he threw the game according to a guy that's probably never stepped foot on a football field, but loves to put down former players on message boards.

He threw the game according to multiple players on the team, but thanks for playing.

I'm impressed with Matt. I've watched him when he has seen the field and he has done well. Definitely better than Geno. If I was Rex, Matt would be my starter.

Interesting. What other UT QB's since Peyton have a TD pass in a regular season NFL game?

Anyone ?

U have a brand new coach with only 2 real QB options that he didn't recruit to start the season (Thx to kiffin). One was a a true freshman and the other is a Juco Transfer. So I think all parties were "handcuffed" trying to figure out how to get things done.

CBJ had 2 solid QBs on campus when he arrived and look how prepared he had them to start the season. Do u blame him for not having his QBs ready, even Dobbs, or them "handcuffed"??

I'm glad to hear things r looking up for Simms. He came in at a tough time took a lot of licks but kept on ticking. Hope it pans out for him. Only thing that really sux for him is that he's with the Jets. That's a hot mess u wouldn't want to wish on ur worst enemy imo.

He was playing with a broken bone and and ill in the UK game, and I don't place that loss soley on him. If you haven't noticed, football is a team sport... There's more than one player on the field at a time. And even then, Da'Rick Rogers was the one dropping easy 3rd down receptions throughout the game.

And as for Vandy last year, well, that was embarrassing all around. We weren't winning that game even if Bray had the game of his life.
