Congrats to Butch Jones for leaving Tennessee
He wasn’t a horrible coach he tried and failed. He brought us back to relevance ended the 11 game losing streak to Florida and beat Georgia two straight years that may never happen again for a long time, he also won three straight bowl games something that hadn’t been accomplished in many years
. He also introduced the Smokey great uniforms that we love so much. Butch did alot of good things for Tennessee football

I loath the Smokey Grey uniform

I think the ones this year were hideous. The old ones were ok. If they'd make them and just be like the black ones but grey, then ok. But I also don't think we need a black uniform and a grey one, at least the football team. Baseball I'm fine with since they have so many games.

The thing I didn't like about the Smokey Greys with Butch is I felt like he almost was trying to make those "his" trademark. He and the coaching staff wore more grey stuff all the time it seemed like.

Not sure how closely everyone has been following Butch, but Arkansas State has really turned things around this year. Their season started with a 73-0 loss to Oklahoma followed by a 37-3 loss to Memphis. Former Vol QB JT Shrout started these first two games but suffered an ankle injury during the Memphis loss. However, Butch ended up deciding to go with another QB going forward and Shrout hasn’t seen any action since Memphis. But the big news is that Arkansas State has turned their season around and blew out Texas State 77-31 yesterday. The Red Wolves are now 6-5 and will be going bowling for the first time under 3rd year head coach Butch Jones. Butch has improved their record each successive year, going 2-10 in 2021, 3-9 in 2022, and now 6-5 in 2023 with a big game against Marshall left to go. Marshall is currently 5-6 so they are going to be fighting for their own bowl spot against Butch and his Red Wolves.
Brick by brick.

Coaching is easy if you find your level.

I topped out in 12U after sucking at 14U.

Good for Butch on finding his level.

At this point, I'd put all the coaching blunders in the past(Dooley,Pruitt,Butch) and focus on the potential of this team moving forward. I do get the years of crappy coaching hires though, and it is great to be in a better place now.

Anywho, congrats to Butch this year on bouncing back from a rough start, and becoming bowl eligible.

Good for him, especially with how the season started. It ended badly here and he obviously did not know how to manage or develop talent. But he had two decent years and there were some good times inbetween.

Many failed coaches have taken opportunities at Bama and it has rebounded them into another opportunity. It is what it is. He has to do whats best for him. Some of you take things too personally.

If it wasn’t for him celebrating and smoking cigars on Shields Watkins field in the faces of his former players I’d say good for Butch but screw that classless burch!

.... but he had to circumvent the terms of his contract, and get every penny that he could from Tennessee. The only problem that I have with him is that he made no effort to mitigate the cost of his buyout. The "intern" routine is a farce that Alabama plays.
Why should he have mitigated the cost of our decision to fire him? That would be stupid
