I've been as hard on him as anyone probably, but there's never been any doubt that he gives his all for Tennessee each and every time he hits the court. With his 3 pointers yesterday he has taken over 10th on the UT all time 3 point made list, that's pretty impressive from a former walk on from Grainger County.

Congrats Skylar!!!

Congrats Skylar!!!

A true VFL! If they had a hard hat award it would go to him. I might have to talk to Coach Martin about starting one up lol:salute:

5th? Wow. Had no idea.

How many posters on here always say he sucks and they don't know why he is even playing?
5th. That should shut some up, but this thread won't go anywhwere, and a mistake he makes in a game will get more posts than the end of a career that he worked his ass off for.

The article in the KNS on McBee was also pretty great. I did not know he went on missions to help the needy in Haiti and other places. Just easy guy to root for and I was hoping like heck he would get out of that shooting slump not only for the team, but for him because he was such a great effort guy.

I played against him in Hs football. He was Rutledges qb. Always seemed like a great guy. Glad to hear this.

Wanna thank you to opening my eyes on him...he may get beat but so does golden and Jordan. He plays because he understands the system and what he's supposed to be doing, and Martin will take that over more athletic guys that's don't know what they're doing. It's a shame he wasn't 6'5" and quicker, but that's life...happy for Skylar.

I've been hard on him in the past as well, but he never gave up and always did what any of his coaches asked him to do and gave his all in every game! I hope the best for him in life after basketball and college! I'm proud to call him a fellow Tennessean and a VFL!!!

If you ever played ball, you were overmatched against an opponent you guarded. Dude was overmatched in every game for 4 years in the SEC. He was an easy target for some fans, but had 2 pretty good coaches that liked him on the floor.
I never understood the hate by some. But then again, many don't understand all the aspects of a team and basketball.
Still can't believe he is 5th, but mentioned a few weeks ago that he might be climbing the rankings when some were saying he is a wasted scholly and should be in D2

He's always been a hard worker. At times he has been a match-up problem on D and maybe took too many threes. Despite that, his effort and many of his timely three's have given us a lift in a ton of games. I've always cheered the loudest for when he made a three than anyone on the team. I'll never forget him as a player here and how good of a person he is too.

Skylar is a guy you can't help but root for as a basketball fan--heck as a sports fan in general...he's earned all the success and come a looooong way.

McBee gives it everything he has got all of the time. I for one am going to miss him next year. He has hit some big shots for the Vols and has never been afraid to take them.

Not to take away from McBee because I have nothing against him but it's dumb to call people out simply because someone is 5th in made shots(threes). You can take 50 shots a game and make 10 of them. While 10 made shots a game is a lot, that's also really terrible. And I'm sorry, McBee's 3 point percentage wasn't what you'd consider good three out of four seasons. 31.3%, 32.4% and 32.6% is not good. So while he sits 5th on the list in makes, he's not sitting there because he was that good of a 3 point shooter. He's sitting there because he attempted a lot of 3's.

Like I said... I have nothing against him. He's made some big shots for us. I just don't know why you're getting pissy with people who never thought he was that good simply because he's 5th in made 3's as if that somehow makes him impressive. I mean, the past 3 games he shot 1 of 6, 1 of 7 and 2 of 7 from 3. I guess people should eat their words because he makes a bunch of 3's while throwing up a ton of bricks.

If you're bothered by people making negative comments about McBee, I hope you never make negative comments about any player, in any sport, ever. McBee's 3pt% is below average this season and it's still higher than his fg%... that's about as bad as it gets. If that doesn't warrant negative comments, I don't know what does. Ironically, I haven't said a negative thing about McBee this season. I'm simply pointing out that you can't blame people who do because a fg% of 32.1% is terrible and only having shot over 33.3% from the field just one time in four seasons is also terrible. But again, I digress. He's 5th in made 3's so that should shut people up.

Anyways... congrats to McBee. And I mean that sincerely. He's a Vol and that's all you can ask for.

Skylar has been deserving of some of the criticism, and some of it has been unfounded, and a result of fan frustration. As Sparty noted, some of the over-the-top nonsense is a result or ignorance.

No one ever could question his effort or desire. He played within himself, knew his limitations, and rarely tried to create something that wasn't there.

Good career for Skylar and good luck to him in his future. I'd imagine he has a career in coaching if he wants it. He's too smart to not get that opportunity if it's something he wants.

Every team needs a Skylar on their bench. If UT is to become an elite team, they cannot have players like Skylar playing as many minutes as he does.

He's jacked up around 450 3's and is a career 35% shooter. He's shooting 32% from beyond the arc this year. Congrats to him for earning a scholarship and playing hard when he hits the floor.

You are the only one that's pissy, but you proved my point anyway. He wasn't on the floor because he is 5th all time in 3's He was on the floor for the other aspects of basketball I mentioned, but you skipped that part. Maybe you don't know those aspects. I don't know.

I discussed this last year and will again. No, 35% isn't great, but that means with 10 shots, he is getting 10.5 points, basically. A 2 point shooter would need to hit 50% to get 10 points with 10 shots. Therefore, if one is able to analyze, they can see that his 35% is the same as a 2 point shooter shooting 50% and 50% ain't bad.

Because he can't play defense and all he can shoot is behind the line. If 99% of my shots were 3s and I played for four years id make a bunch too. You live and die by the three ball and right now he's alive. Come tourney time you idiots could be singing a different tune. Every little positive news you people get makes you forget the massive struggles and sheer failures at some points. Must be nice to live in that world.
