Congratulations to Skylar Mcbee

Because he can't play defense and all he can shoot is behind the line. If 99% of my shots were 3s and I played for four years id make a bunch too. You live and die by the three ball and right now he's alive. Come tourney time you idiots could be singing a different tune. Every little positive news you people get makes you forget the massive struggles and sheer failures at some points. Must be nice to live in that world.

The reason CM continues to put him on the other teams best scorers quite often must be because he is horrible at D.

Posters, I mentioned before that some fans only see the game of basketball through a limited view of the game. Well here is your example above.

And yes, it is great to be positive and not ***** all the time. Started to be that way when I left Memphis in '88. Maybe you should do the same, or keep your funk on the west side of the state.

5th? Wow. Had no idea.

How many posters on here always say he sucks and they don't know why he is even playing?
5th. That should shut some up, but this thread won't go anywhwere, and a mistake he makes in a game will get more posts than the end of a career that he worked his ass off for.

Him finishing 5th in 3's would only fuel his critics.

I think McBee was recruited to be a spot up shooter. When he gets his feet set and his not rushed he is a good shooter. He was not recruited for his ability to handle the ball or his defense. However, due to circumstances he has had to be relied upon to do these things. He has struggled at times but he has given his best effort.

He is a Tennessee kid who has given his all for Tennessee. I admire him for it. He could have gone and played for other schools, but he wanted to be a Vol.

I hope he closes out well and gives us Vol fans some fond memories.

Never forget the Kansas game, one of McBee's and Pearl's finest moments of TN. Is it okay to say Pearl?

Hasn't Skylar had a shoulder problem this year. At least I was under the impression that he had. Maybe I'm wrong.

Who is ahead of him on the list? Lofton, Ellis, Houston and Smith? Anyone know?

Skylar is 10th all time with 156 threes. He passed Tatum last night. His current percentage is 34.6%.

Houston was .424
Lofton .422
Wharton .400
Bell .399
Watson .396
Harris .361 -10th all time

Last year was McBee's only year above 33%.

He plays hard, but he's just not that good.

I discussed this last year and will again. No, 35% isn't great, but that means with 10 shots, he is getting 10.5 points, basically. A 2 point shooter would need to hit 50% to get 10 points with 10 shots. Therefore, if one is able to analyze, they can see that his 35% is the same as a 2 point shooter shooting 50% and 50% ain't bad.

I'm able to analyze, as a 3 point specialist, 32% for the year and 35% for a career are not good numbers, no matter how you try and justify them. Secondly, when is the last time he took 10 shoots in a ball game. If he did, I have no doubt his %s would be worse.

No offence to Skylar as I think he has been a serviceable player for us.

some will never forget the Alamo, but all of us will remember the Kansas game

When he made that shot vs Kansas, I said "if he never does another thing on the court for UT, he earned a scholarship with that shot!" I'll stand by that, but Skylar did much more after that. Will always be a fan of the Grainger Gunner!

I would sure rather live in that world then always harp on negative things. It's ok to be happy and appreciative for someone who has busted their tail and earned a schollarship by being a role player.

I didn't justify. I just made a point.
Justifying would be saying that if they shot 100 game shots, by %, my favorite player Chris Lofton and Allan Houston would hit 7 more.

I've typed a couple different posts but decided I didn't want to get in an argument. Instead I'll just say, Congrats to Skykar on living out what was probably childhood dream of wearing the Big Orange and playing in front of VolNation for 4 years.

It is 10th all time, he trails CJ Watson for 9th place by 9 threes. I'll fix my post, sorry for the confusion, still impressive for a former walkon.

Skylar has been an OK outside shooter who has (over 4 years) turned into a solid defender. I think he is out there because he makes enough threes to spread the defense a bit to open up the inside for Stokes and because he plays well on defense. In any argument like this, you are certain to see hyperbole on both sides. I think it's accurate to say the guy has been a solid bench player for us this year and a solid contributor over four years, especially considering he was a walk on as a freshman. Congrats to Skylar on a good career - would be nice if he could end it with a solid SEC tourney run and NCAA tourney appearance.

Well said. Never said he was a superstar. Kid was just hounded for 4 years by people that didn't think he deserved to wear the T. "Remind me of why skylar plays" is a game ritual. I just conclude that basketball is truly foreign to some and leave it at that.
