He's already getting hit???? Why not use his athletic ability to stretch the field and move the ball?
Yes he's been hit a few times, but this D is fast and I don't think they want Nico running in the open taking more of a chance of getting hurt. That's my take on what I'm seeing, I'm not making the calls.

But Nico has demonstrated he is good at getting down without getting hit when he runs and our offense is struggling mightily

This looks like a very conservative game plan, whatever that tells you. The way Oklahoma has played defense (furiously) the game plan has been a good fit, really. I've been surprised that the offense hasn't taken more "shots". Designed runs would be good here, but it's a lot of wear and tear on your qb.

Have you seen their field? Absolutely dreadful. I think the plan for tonight was “defense eat” and offense do just enough with O-line injuries.

And our QB’s on questionable surfaces don’t run well based on history

I don't think one designed run would hurt. Just doing it one time would help open things up

Where are the designed runs for Nico? Why haven't we seen one play where he just takes off running???? I get the injury aspect, but he is getting pressured and hit anyway. A designed run here and there would make things much harder on their defense.
why we watch and you or anyone else is not on UT payroll enjoy the win...GBO!!🍊🏈🔥🔥🔥🔥

While I understand there’s gonna be a lot of this talk. I think Venables actually had a great game plan. Even down to the grass length on the field 😂. While you may look at it as a bad thing, I believe Josh is being conservative because he’s already seen Dayne Davis give up 2 sack fumbles which had our defense in horrible situations. Luckily our defense got us out of those situations, but there’s no reason to make things harder for your defense when they just forced a QB to get benched. Our OL injuries + Venables game plan just makes it hard for him to do that. It also means he’s grown as a head coach. Sometimes you have to win the smart way.

We didn’t see alot of designed runs for milton last year either.
