So this is my conspiracy.. What if Butch intentionally didn't over achieve in the Oregon game.. Not didn't try, or tried to lose, but once he realised we were going to lose, he just coasted... Knowing that Florida was in a bye week and at home watching.. What if he went about our schedule with the thought process that if we lost to Oregon, no biggie, cause we can just win the east, win the sec, and make a BCS bowl.. What if he was saving the playbook and everything we really have for Florida?? What if he wants them to come in cocky and way over confident and our guys coming in pissed off from a loss.. And wants us to start our SEC schedule with a big splash win, and momentum going into the Georgia game?? What if the coach we all love is really just playing "the game" inside the game? Are there others out there that has these thoughts?? What if this "it" that Butch gets is really bigger than all of us, and he is the real "MAD HATTER"??? I think everyone should take this stuff into consideration, especially if we DO in fact beat Florida....

I'm some what joking, but a tiny bit serious ;)

I said long before the Oregon game if they went up big in the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter, and it is painfully obvious that we were out of our league, that Butch will shut the playbook and go vanilla again. The SEC games are far more important.

I feel like that's pretty much exactly what happened.

Obviously this theory is ridiculous. However, I do believe that the staff was smart enough to limit what we gave Florida to look at after we got blown out in the 2nd quarter.

Ok, just be honest, you seriously do believe this; or rather you really want to believe this very badly. And also sadly, this at least the 4th time I've seen a post like this here this week.

The only silver lining about this is I think this proof we're pretty much hitting rock bottom. To even entertain what you posted as possible shows that we have gotten extremely desperate to try and convince ourselves we're not all that bad.

The goal of the season is to win a bowl game, that's the only thing that matters this year ... A game against the best out-of-conference team in the country (3000 miles away) is exciting but is almost irrelevant to our goal.

I believe CBJ is a competitor. He may have scaled back if he realized the game was out of reach, but I believe he went into Eugene with intentions to WIN.

Rock bottom was 41-18 last November.

We're almost a year removed from that. New coaching staff and a monster recruiting class coming in. Better days ahead, my friend.

Next year will be worse. The offensive line will be gone. It doesn't matter how much talent comes in. A team full off freshmen starters can't compete and win in the SEC.

So you think the entire playbook was open during the Oregon game? Even in the second half?

If that was our entire playbook, its a thin paperback.

I haven't exactly been thrilled by Bajakian's playcalling so far, but I've watched enough Cincy tape to know that he's got quite a bit more than we've seen up his sleeve. I trust him. Just look at the guy. He's a classic playbook nerd. He used to teach math, for crying out loud.

And I completely agree... I believe he and every other coach truly believed they were going to win.. But they had a magic number in their head that if the score reached X and it was still in Y quarter.. Then pull the parachute.. I think he went in guns a blazing, but realized that not only was worley not gonna work out this year.. But that he needed to wait til Florida to let someone who has a real chance with this offense take over...

Maybe he wanted to save our most talented starting qb for the games that REALLY matter...

If he intentionally "coasted", do us all a favor and fire him now.

It should be noted I don't believe this is the case.

This fanbase will do just about anything to avoid admitting to ourselves we're a really, really bad football team.

So u r saying we have a hc that played in the band which says nerd n an oc that taught math which says nerd... not exactly the formula I would prefer leading a football team that should be full of mean angry young men on sat..lol

It's not like they can't review our entire play book by watching Cincy.

Unless the real conspiracy started at Cincy? He held back his entire time at Cincy and did just enough to win, knowing that he would land the UT job and that Florida would be on the schedule. Tomorrow, BJ finally gets to run his full offense. Unless of course his real plan is to take down Alabama! However, maybe BJ knows we're not good enough to beat anybody this year and decides to only run a watered down offense all year long, then next year, we explode like an offensive juggernaut. Yep, that sounds about right to me.
