conspiracy theory

This fanbase will do just about anything to avoid admitting to ourselves we're a really, really bad football team.

Voice of reason right here.

This program is the 90s era Vanderbilt we all used to make fun of now with no end in sight.

As to the original post, Fulmer got fired for coasting.

No reason to keep Butch if he is going to lay down and go against everything he has been preaching to this point and quit when things goes against us.

Next year will be worse. The offensive line will be gone. It doesn't matter how much talent comes in. A team full off freshmen starters can't compete and win in the SEC.

I don't think our O-Line has even lived up to be half as good as they are supposed to be.

I was gonna try and blast you, but then I picked up on the sarcasm. Vandy in the 90's, haha..

CBJ said that some of our slot receivers were injured and they couldn't use those plays. So yes, in that sense, we did cut back on the different plays we run. No conspiracy, just lack of players.

So you think the entire playbook was open during the Oregon game? Even in the second half?

How about this what if....

What if the team is still learning to grasp the new offense and there is only so much they can run with everybody knowing what they are doing, especially on the road?

So this is my conspiracy.. What if Butch intentionally didn't over achieve in the Oregon game.. Not didn't try, or tried to lose, but once he realised we were going to lose, he just coasted... Knowing that Florida was in a bye week and at home watching.. What if he went about our schedule with the thought process that if we lost to Oregon, no biggie, cause we can just win the east, win the sec, and make a BCS bowl.. What if he was saving the playbook and everything we really have for Florida?? What if he wants them to come in cocky and way over confident and our guys coming in pissed off from a loss.. And wants us to start our SEC schedule with a big splash win, and momentum going into the Georgia game?? What if the coach we all love is really just playing "the game" inside the game? Are there others out there that has these thoughts?? What if this "it" that Butch gets is really bigger than all of us, and he is the real "MAD HATTER"??? I think everyone should take this stuff into consideration, especially if we DO in fact beat Florida....

The only problem is that the missed tackles, fumble by Neal and not being able to get the ball to the receivers is what lost the game for us. Not really any coaching decisions.

Also, I don't put alot of stock in the "Secret Q.B. or secret offense" for Florida.

Let's imagine that we have a new starter at q.b. and we have a 20 play new offensive package for the game. That may benefit us for three offensive series but Florida will soon make defensive adjustments and nullify any "Secret Q.B. or secret offensve" that we had.

It makes good conversation and it is exciting but it won't change the outcome of the game, what so ever.

We have many, many missed tackles. Can't get the ball to the receivers. Our players on special teams are slow. We lack confidence. So, I see this as a 35 - 14 game and I see the Florida runningback, single handedly gaining over 150 yards on rushes and a few more yards from receptions.

This game will help us add a few more bricks to the rebuilding effort.

Has it occurred to anyone else that VN should probably limit it's football discussions to orange pants and Smokey jerseys?:eek:lol:

I haven't exactly been thrilled by Bajakian's playcalling so far, but I've watched enough Cincy tape to know that he's got quite a bit more than we've seen up his sleeve. I trust him. Just look at the guy. He's a classic playbook nerd. He used to teach math, for crying out loud.

lol......never trust a mathematician.....always mixing letters in with numbers

No joke, I told my coworkers this exact scenario on Monday! Yes, they all laughed at me. Oh well, we will see on Saturday! Here's to hoping!!! :good!:

The playbook will open more when the freshmen and walking wounded receivers learn to run the right routes and catch the ball. The first 3 slot receivers were injured. North is really gifted but is still learning to be a receiver. Josh Smith, who many said would never see the field, is the leading receiver. Jason Croom is still a raw talent. Downs is the only tight end who has played.

Butch's philosophy is to learn a few things well and execute them well. The receivers are going to be very good eventually, but are not there yet. Give them some time. We were not going to beat Oregon anyway. The offense will be much better by November when we make a run for a bowl game and winning season....and open the playbook.

No, we didn't see the entire playbook. What we saw was what we are capable of executing at this point. (with the term executing used very loosely).

For all of the people who say we only saw part of the playbook at Oregon... We have a winner! Helps if you actually listen to what the coach says. From CBJ's own mouth:

It's really hard to judge the quarterback just because all the moving parts and pieces, the different dynamics that we're going through. We lose two slot receivers on Wednesday and Thursday. We had to simplify. Half of our game plan for Oregon had to be put aside just because of being able to move receivers around just to be functional. It is what it is.

Not a huge Worley fan from what he's shown or more importantly not shown, but my guess is Butch is trying to win the games with the best of what he has. You actually think he would potentially scrap an SEC season that hasn't even started for them yet by starting a true freshman?

guys, we didn't "coast", but I can see that once things were unfortunately "established" for the remainder of the Oregon game, I would HOPE that our coach is smart enough not to just throw the playbook out there for everyone to see. Hence the secret closed practices we have been having this week. We played hard and to win for 4 quarters last week, but we didn't give them any raz-ma-taz that wasnt necessary.

What "IF" bUTch says all of the right things to get the fans excited and believing in the program, but he can't deliver the results on the field?

What if we go to Florida and lose 35 - 14 and their running back gets over 150 yards?

What if Peterman ends up starting the South Ala bam game?

What if the other three q.b.'s leaves U.T. , at seasons end, decause they all want playing time?

OR

What if we win all of our winnable games this season and somehow sneak out an unexpected win, against UGA or USC etc?

What if we qualify for a bowl game, get extra practice sessions, and also somehow win the bowl game. This momentum, pushes through the off season?

This is absolutely crazy talk. But, i admit i thought the same thing after the game. Would be Genius because the Oregon game really didn't matter, and Butch knows nothing would be better for this program and the fanbase than a win over the hated gators!
