Yes, they are competing for a spot in the same tournament. However, it doesn't mean that if Mississippi State won a few games Tennessee would be less likely to get a bid. Tennessee's best chance at getting an at-large bid is continuing this winning streak. Fans really shouldn't be concerned about other bubble teams (although all of the conference favorites winning does help).
Actually, Mississippi State winning would only help Tennessee's profile. The stronger the SEC is the better for Tennessee, and all other bubble teams in the conference.
Agree to diagree I guess. I just dont see how your competition winning more helps your odds. Mississippi St is a team, among others, competing for a limited number of spots in a tournament. We should want all the teams we are competing with to lose as much as possible in the last two weeks before the season. I'm not sure why that is even debatable.
I think he is saying that we shouldn't just assume that the SEC is going to get 5 teams without regard to the resume of that fifth team. The SEC may only get 4 teams. It's happened before. Just because Tennessee might beat out MSU for fifth best team in the SEC doesn't mean Tennessee is automatically getting a spot in the tourney.
Well, if you're thinking that Mississippi State and Tennessee will be fighting for one tournament spot, then I guess you should be rooting for Mississippi State to collapse. I just doubt that it will come down to that.
miss st should beat arky. i still don't see how we get in with 19 wins. if we are the 2 seed, we would have to beat ky in the finals to have 20 wins for the ncaa, and i don't see us beating ky on a neutral floor. we have 16 wins now and will have 17 after sat. it takes us winning the tourney to get to 20 wins, right ? :ermm:
No one said anything about someone automatically getting a 5th spot.... I just said it would help our chances. Which is true.
that's what i said all along !!

First, I didn't quote or address anything you said on the matter. Second, it wasn't about whether someone did or didn't say that. It was about bleeding's misunderstanding of the point golfball was trying to make, which has been cleared up.
Woa there tiger. It wasn't cleared up when I quoted you. Sorry about not knowing the rule that people aren't allowed to comment on what people say unless they are directly quoted....
