Don't worry man. Mississippi State will always be Mississippi State. They do a better job of beating themselves than anyone else can this time of the year. :)

With the exception of the year they beat us in the SEC tournament finals (2009?)

i still think we will have to have 20 wins to get in. hope i'm wrong

USC resume last year:

19-14(10-8)
RPI:66
Last 10: 6-4

They got a 12 sees. Tennessees resume would look much better, an mast years field was much stronger than this years. 20 wins is in now way a requirement.

Yes, they are competing for a spot in the same tournament. However, it doesn't mean that if Mississippi State won a few games Tennessee would be less likely to get a bid. Tennessee's best chance at getting an at-large bid is continuing this winning streak. Fans really shouldn't be concerned about other bubble teams (although all of the conference favorites winning does help).

Actually, Mississippi State winning would only help Tennessee's profile. The stronger the SEC is the better for Tennessee, and all other bubble teams in the conference.

Agree to diagree I guess. I just dont see how your competition winning more helps your odds. Mississippi St is a team, among others, competing for a limited number of spots in a tournament. We should want all the teams we are competing with to lose as much as possible in the last two weeks before the season. I'm not sure why that is even debatable.

It's not.

As you said we want all potential bubble teams to lose, not just miss st.

Simple as this...1 spot left, if miss st and Tennessee both win their next 3 who gets it? Miss st does, thus the reason tee want them to lose.

I think he is saying that we shouldn't just assume that the SEC is going to get 5 teams without regard to the resume of that fifth team. The SEC may only get 4 teams. It's happened before. Just because Tennessee might beat out MSU for fifth best team in the SEC doesn't mean Tennessee is automatically getting a spot in the tourney.

No one said anything about someone automatically getting a 5th spot.... I just said it would help our chances. Which is true.

Well, if you're thinking that Mississippi State and Tennessee will be fighting for one tournament spot, then I guess you should be rooting for Mississippi State to collapse. I just doubt that it will come down to that.

They are one of the many bubble teams who could take a spot away from us.

Im sure as hell not rooting for them.

miss st should beat arky. i still don't see how we get in with 19 wins. if we are the 2 seed, we would have to beat ky in the finals to have 20 wins for the ncaa, and i don't see us beating ky on a neutral floor. we have 16 wins now and will have 17 after sat. it takes us winning the tourney to get to 20 wins, right ? :ermm:

Have they changed the rules? How'd we get in last year with 19 wins.

First, I didn't quote or address anything you said on the matter. Second, it wasn't about whether someone did or didn't say that. It was about bleeding's misunderstanding of the point golfball was trying to make, which has been cleared up.

that's what i said all along !!

Ok? I'm just laying out the best case scenario for us to make it in without winning 20 games. As others have said, it has been done before with less than 20 wins.

You seem to be stuck on this magic number of 20. We can't get to the magic number without winning the tourney, in which case it wouldn't matter if we had 5 wins because we would be in. So, you saying you think we still need 20 wins is irrelevant. We either have to make it with less than that, or win the tourney. In no scenario can we win 20 games and not make it in.

There are an undetermined number of at-large spots available and too many teams in position for one. I'm rooting against Miss St, Texas, Arizona, and every other bubble team. It doesn't matter if they are fighting for one spot or 10 spots, they are still the competition. Why would you not?

its really not under our control. we just have to win and see what happens. what would really suck is some scrub team winning one of the big 6 conference tournaments and thus messing everything up for bubble teams.

Woa there tiger. It wasn't cleared up when I quoted you. Sorry about not knowing the rule that people aren't allowed to comment on what people say unless they are directly quoted....

I'm just not sure why you quoted me. I wasn't talking about anything you said, only stating that I thought bleeding misunderstood the intent of golfball's statement. Bleeding confirmed and it was over. Two hours later, you brought it back up and quoted me as if I had called you out personally.

Color me confused I guess.
