Cooper Leaving

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. If this was indeed a "forced transfer," as has been reported, this young woman obviously (based on what I do know about previous rule violations and what Deer Park has stated about this situation) broke the rules one too many times. HW is the type person that she would want this young woman to have a chance to get it together, so she would not want to damage her reputation. It's a shame the word got out somehow. Now people (not saying you) want to turn it into a reason to bash Holly. It's a shame people can't just follow the rules and we wouldn't be having this conversation. That's just my opinion on the situation...not worth 5 cents to anyone, I know, but there it is, nonetheless.
if it is rule violation then holly is keeping wth coach summit's standard.coach summit kicked player's for same reason.tiffani johnson for 1 n people were worried cause she was a great post.

well I blame Holly for sorry coaching, global warming, etc. but I don't see how she can be blamed for this unless there are issues we aren't aware of.

It's unfortunate for the LVs and Te'a. But UT can't hire nannies for the players. A school can only provide opportunities for student-athletes; it can't force them to make the most of the chances they're given. Now, the freshmen have a huge opportunity. Let's see who steps up.

As a taxpayer you have the right to know about the personal life of a player that plays for a team that does not receive public tax dollars? Get the hell out of here.

Did not ask for any personal information. However if our Head Coach is trying to keep her program clean by giving a transfer instead of dismissing the player for rules violations, that is another situation. Also on the point of not receiving public tax dollars, this should be read. http://www.cbpp.org/research/state-budget-and-tax/policy-basics-where-do-our-state-tax-dollars-go

It has been said over on the boneyard that she was released and her scholarship hasn't been renewed, can anyone on here confirm this? I hate the fact that these young players have to go through these rumors being spread about. Te'a is a fine player and I hope she finds success where ever she lands.

My advice would be stay out of the dogyard. 🐾🐾🐾:)

As far as I know, the "evidence" for Holly not being completely forthcoming is another poster on this board stating that Cooper has been dismissed for rules violations but that Holly wanted to take the high road in not divulging this info.

I am not convinced that such a statement--whether 100% accurate or not--is actually appropriate to disseminate.

"Hey everybody, Holly wants to keep this piece of knowledge out of the public eye and here it is...."

If Holly and Te'a really had some kind of agreement, then broadcasting it in this forum is a breach of confidence.

Per Holly's official statement is parsed quite from a legal standpoint:

Te’a Cooper and I had a good conversation today during which she shared with me her wishes to transfer,” Warlick said in a university release. “We plan to grant that request.

There could be an any number of reasons for Te'a wanting to transfer, ranging from personal matters to the transfer of get kicked off option that Smallvol suggested.

I don't see how Holly is creating any kind of ethical issue but being discrete. Any team that might take will follow-up with the coaching staff to query about what happened.

Holly's statement on the topic was clearly indicating Cooper asked for a transfer and Holly said it would be granted.

Then, others said, not true, that she was kicked off the team, scholarship not renewed because of whatever bad behavior.

If she was booted, then Holly was lying. Not saying she was lying, just that she would only be lying if what she said was not true. Then people defended Holly stating she was just being classy. If she was being classy, meaning she may have lied, but classy made it justifiable.

The irony of all this is Holly wasn't accused of lying. Although most here probably think she was lying or
have justified her lying for humanitarian reasons. In fact, those with alternate reasons were probably not at Holly's meeting with Cooper and really don't know what was discussed. Amazing how things get so distorted. Sounds like what's going on in Washington.

I think you are a little too caught up in being rigid with interpretation of what she said. She said they had a good conversation which could have included Holly saying because of your actions off the court here are your conditions to remain a member of this team (suspension, etc). To that Cooper responds that she would rather transfer that remain in the team under those conditions. Holly says we will honor that. Now I am not close enough to the situation to know if those are the details. But the only option is not "well then Holly lied"

True. Perhaps Warlick had Cooper's lines scripted and told her that if she wanted a respectable departure, she better read the lines... (Shrug). That way it wouldn't be lying either... (Shrug)

In any event, this is yesterday's news, and this team needs to move on and get stronger in the weight room, better at the FT line and from the field, and learn to run an offense.

Truly...you have a point. Unless we were in the room, we cannot know for sure exactly what happened and how it all went down.

At any rate, she's gone and it's neither here nor there. Time to move on.

What is sort of funny to me is that, when I was last on here, the sky was the limit. This was when Alexa announced she was leaving. Now, a few weeks later, the season is doomed according to some.

As to Te'a, I hope she finds what she is most interested in, in a place where she is happy and successful.

Move on.

Yes BobK I agree with you..... People... many of them... were projecting deep deep run for the NCAA title based on experienced front line and holy grail in Te'a at PG.... I was sold on Cooper being talented, but never sold on her in and of herself being the answer.... there needed to be significant help for her.... and now we are in a bit of a crisis.... because WCBB is all about the guard position.... I hope for the best

That is accurate. She was not asked back.

Exactly, it is fair to say that Holly's statement was hedged or legally parsed, per my earlier post. Through careful word choice, she conveyed the necessary information-- Cooper is transferring--while being vague on the reasons why so as to neither divulge more than she and/or Cooper wanted nor intentionally misrepresent things.

You're proving yourself to be clueless on this issue.
Perhaps, but I never said I did know what happened.

There is such a thing as fake news. What is your source of info? Unless you were at the meeting how are you so sure you know what transpired?

Madtown, love your posts, but just to clarify, since so many don't read a whole thread:). I was not giving the transfer or be dismissed scenario as something I knew or believed, just showing an option in response to the "Holly lying" posts.

I know you know that, but like I said...if someone is skipping posts etc. I don't want to give a false impression that I know anything or that I believe that scenario occurred.
